Thanks For Nothing, GATEWAY!! |
| |
| Just for sh!ts and Grins the other day I logged into Gateway, to see what if any my old computer system would be worth to trade in; Well my answer was " NO TRADE IN VALUE " That's exactly the answer I was expecting too...LOL! I can't complain I really really should NOT complain as my computer system is now 10+ years old and its been a great one; I've used it to death all these past 10 years, I'm on my third keyboard I don't know how many mouses, I've gone through...two scanner's and many modems...oh yeah and two monitor's..(G)! I spent over $3000.00 when I got this system too you'd think they'd give me something for the dang thing but no...its worth NADA to them! she's on her last leg I have so much trouble with this thing daily just trying to get it to boot up is a pain...then fighting with dial up and getting knocked offline so many times the last two months; It sucks it sucks it sucks...... I'm looking around at places that do the "Rent to own" that's the only way I'm gonna be able to either get a laptop or a new CPU... How long has your computer system lasted you??? | | Thanks for nothing Gateway! | | | | |

| | HI Lamby: That sounds so silly, what the heck do I call you now? Lamb? Lamby? LambyM? Mykl?? Arrggh!!! That's a good idea I won't be trashing anything of mine here even if I do manage to get a laptop or something, that way like you and a few others I can use the working parts or just "add what I want" into something that I buy... Oh God you only had 128MB RAM....HOLY CRAP!!! How did you survive it? Well believe it or not before I got my computer I bought a WEBTV... it was pretty good actually for awhile; there was no ISP service here in my small town when I first got my webtv and I had to pay LONG DISTANCE PHONE CHARGES on that, THAT REALLY SUCKED as I had HUGE PHONE BILLS..OMG!! I nearly fainted on the first bill... I've learned to do a lot of stuff on my computer too over the years, its not so hard once you start doing it. I even have worked on a few of my friends computers, the one friend had a nasty virus in her computer and she hadn't been taking care of it anyway with updates/or anything to protect it from an attack even though I had downloaded some stuff for her, showed her how to do things I even printed out a LIST for her to follow each week, did she do it? NOOOoooo...anyway long story short I spent a good 3 days on her machine fixing it and I made her pay me too...BIG TIME! sHE LEARNED her lesson and so far has continued to keep her computer up to date and runs her virus programs...stupid nit!!! | | | |

| | hey wassup dreamweaverjan! i'm using an assembled pc. i bought it from a certain store that assembles pc so it ain't branded. i can tell you the specs though. i'm running and AMD Athlon with a 256mb memory and a redfox motherboard. it's a little slow compared to newer computers but it's working just fine. this computer has served me for a good 5 years and all the parts are still working. i've changed the mouse once though. i think it's pretty durable considering that it was just assembled. i think this computer can still serve me for 5 years more. i do have to upgrade the memory though. i'm planning to buy a 512mb memory soon. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Tomjoad: Oh I agree, I have a lot of friends who have used different parts and stuff and assembled their own very fast and high powered computers; Nothing wrong with that; (G)!! I too will be saving it all and using what I want out of it for whatever I happen to buy next; A lot of people make that mistake of just throwing stuff out when there are things you can easily use to build your own "masterpiece".. Good luck and I hope yours continues to hold out for you; | | | |

| | Ha, same answer I would have expected if I had asked them about my computer with just died this month. I had been using it for almost 10 years as well. I was giving that computer for building a web site for company close to town. It served me well. I did get a Gateway computer but I don't expect I will be keeping it for 10 years. We did get a Dell laptop at Christmas but I got that so the family would not be using my business computer. | | | | | | |

| | Wow you mean Gateway is still around? Lol, I didnt know that. The first real computer my parents got was a gateway. With a whole 16 gig HD lol. Back then all my friends and I thought I would never fill that up. Yeah right lol. Hmmm lets see, my case is about 7 years old. OTher then that though since I built my computer and have upgraded it over the years the oldest parts are about 6 months old or so. My monitor is the newest thing Ive gotten, thats about 4 or 5 months old. Hmm or is it my speakers I got last? I dont remember lol. I will not EVER buy a store brand computer, I will build my own and upgrade it. | | | | | | |

| | I tried to get commodities here for Mom, but those azzholes wouldn't even return my call - and it was a state agency who referred me!!! I called so many times. I always liked what I got - I loved the cheese and the canned pork, back when I was eligible for it. I made chili verde with the pork. | | | |

| | The cheese is like a cross between Velveeta and yellow American. I loved it - nice and salty, and it melted great! The pork is seasoned chunks in broth. I just added tomatoes (stewed) and green chilis, some salt pepper and garlic, and thickened it with a roux. Loved it!! You could also just make pork and gravy and eat it over mashed potatoes or buttered noodles. I'd LOVE to have a can myself!! The peanut butter is OK, but I prefer chunky. But, you can use it to make cookies. | | | |

| | Hey Girlfriend; What a day its been; my friend Shirley came by to visit before she went to her doctor appointments, then two of the neighbor kids came by to visit for awhile, YEAH RAH! had to shooooooo that kid away I swear she'd just move in here if I let her..GTF REAL!!!! I've not opened up the pork can yet since Shirley brought me some eggs today I used a couple of them to make those salmon croquettes... they didn't give me any peanutbutter, its just that I've had a steady diet of it A LOT this month and I'm so sick of it; I've not tried the box of cheese yet, some cheese's plug me up while others like you said its a massive CLEANING OUT TIME...LOL!!! and I dearly love cheese but boy it sure hates me...like I said I'll either be plugged up, or loosey-goosey...LOL!!! I've had a monster headache most of the day today, need to go to my chiro but NOOOOO money this month I've suffered and suffered and suffered and now I have a headache daily...(sigh)!! COME ON MONDAY...JAN NEEDS SOME MONEY! I'm running on "fumes" in my car...had to "ask" for toilet paper money today; do you know HOw much I detest having to degrade myself and ask my Father for TOILET PAPER MONEY...he acts like he is so damn broke too, he has had major tractor repairs this month not once but twice, but good grief, he acts like its a thousand dollars for each dollar given..(sigh)! Thankfully the guy that does his hay fields has started, and he will get money for his hay now, and he can SHUT UP about that too...the guy is late again this year getting it put up..well the man works..and then we've had so much rain...what does he expect huh? gonna go watch big brother and then fall into a medicated coma into bed; ttyl Ow! My head and Owweee my body!! | | | |

| | Remember you can make mac and cheese, grilled cheese, cheese omelets, cheese sauce for other things, cheese and crackers as a snack (make them Wheat Thins or a generic and they're actually healthy while tasting pretty good). You can freeze half the cheese so you still have it next month. Did you call the people about the computer? Also with the pork, you can make a stew like you would with beef - add some cut up carrots, potatoes, chopped onion, maybe some peas or string beans or limas or all of them and thicken the broth, maybe adding some gravy mix for more flavor. Eat with biscuits or put in a pie shell with another on top and make a meat pie. I wish I lived closer - I'd come take one of those off your hands!! | | | |

| | Or, add BBQ sauce to the pork in a crock pot and cook until it all falls apart and eat as sandwiches like pulled pork! YUM!! (Top with some of that cheese - damn I'm hungry!!) | | | |

| | Hey Girlfriend: been having a rough weekend not feeling good at all and having mega pain in my foot and leg/left leg/foot more than usual... and a headache from pure hell I know its mostly due to the fact that I need to see my chiro...going tomorrow no matter what else is going on around me; got a nasty gutache too, its finally reached a point of "too many pain pills" I think...LOL! UGH! somebody shoot me and put me outta my misery; I might try that pork in my crockpot with some other stuff added of course; (G)! I won't freeze the cheese as I'm sure I'll have to be eating more of it throughout the month than I want too... counting the minutes until the morning when I'll have MONEY on my debit card from the gov...a$$holes never load the thing until the last minute only if/when there is a holiday or something will they load it sooner; probably after midnight or around 2;00 a.m. I'm guessing money will be transferred; I'LL BE DEAD TO THE WORLD at that time I hope (G)! anyway going back to my heat pad now... have felt so bad and there is/has been absolutely CRAP on all weekend long aka my cable... Oh yeah I told the person I'd be emailing them back tomorrow after I take care of bills/etc....etc..etc... to see what I have left I also will be picking up the neighbor's tv tomorrrow WOOOHOOOOOOO!!! A CLEAR TV SET...what shall I ever do My poor eye's won't know what to do either...holy sh!t!!! ttyl | | | |

| | I have had mine for about 3 1/2 years, I bought it used. I don't know how old it is. Its a Dell and still works good. I can tell it is getting old, it has slowed down some but overall I am still happy with it. This has been my first computer so to me its perfect. Before getting this computer I didn't know anything about computers, most things I have learned on my own. Good luck I hope you can get a new one. | | | | | | |

Sometimes when I first turn it on I think Oh Sh!t this is the day its just gonna be DEAD on me...then she slowly comes to life...slower and slower and slower no matter what I do to it, or run on it...she's just dying a slow death here like the rest of us...LOL! Time to put her to rest ... how ya doin?? hows things going with the HOUSE APES being gone? LOL! | | | |

| | Wow, you had your computer for a long time. My first computer only lasted me about 5 years and I took it back for repairs and it worked even worse, because it still had a few days to the warranty. Then I had one from about 2005-2009. That one only lasted four years and three years in, I had to get a new hard drive. Those were desktops. A compact and a dell. I like Dell better. I've had my Dell Laptop since 2008. I hope it lasts me two more years. It's been going strong, but I get nervous. Computers don't tend to last long. However, it maybe be because I use them a lot. | | | | | | |

| | HI Smartie; I know what you mean I get nervous too being on disability and being home 24/7 I use mine to death; I guess one never knows for sure just how long anything will last but it sure is nice when we at least "think" we get our money's worth out of it you know? HOpefully your laptop will keep working awhile longer for you too; to be honest I don't think anything that is made now a days last long at all, these companies just want our money over and over and over again; and then too technology is constantly changing...sometimes for the better sometimes not..(G)! | | | |
