What About The Manufactured Home Industry?

We are told that the real estate industry must be saved, so the Federal government created the first time home buyer tax credit. We are told that the car industry must be save so the Federal government created the clunker car tax credit. Yet the manufactured home industry suffers from the same problems as real estate and auto industry. These home are built on assembly line that are built 100% in America, unlike Ford, GMC, and Chrysler. Buyers of a manufactured home shop for their house at dealerships just like a car buyer. Buyers of a manufactured home needs to attain a home loan just like a site built home. So why does one industry receive aid while a whole other industry is left to survive on their own?

I had been wondering this because I have been looking at manufactured homes to replace my home which is getting very old and dilapidated and is really not worth the effort at my age to fix it up. It would be nice if there was help in buying one. Obama has pushed these programs through without giving much careful thought to what they are doing.

A manufactured home does qualify and, since you already own your property, you shouldn't have any problem qualifying for a loan. I don't know if the home seller will be able to help you with the demolition of your existing home but I would think that they would know companies that do that and could recommend someone.

Accroding to the information I was able to find here, people who purchase manufactured homes also qualify for the tax credit.

Any home that will be used as a principal residence will qualify for the credit. This includes single-family detached homes, attached homes like townhouses and condominiums, manufactured homes (also known as mobile homes) and houseboats.[/i]
