What makes a man?

I think a MAN is someone who does whatever he has to do for his family, someone who protects then and takes care of them. I think a man will be himself, no matter if it means shedding a few tears.

Truth honesty and integrity make a man. If he has that, he will have everything else he needs.

You know Kipling's poem, IF?
It's true people hold different ideas about what makes a man, but I think every male could be a man in someone's mind. I believe a man must be tough, never drop anything without hard work, take care of his family and friends...
Maybe it's too much, but that's just what I consider.

I think it is a very easy question to answer if asked years before, but now I am a bit confused and will hesitate for a while. By definition, men are different from women both physically and genetically. But the diffenences are more than that, especially as to their respective role both in home as well as in society. Because our ancestors lived in a hunter-gatherer society, men are believed to be strong, brave, never crying and they are provider of the familiy and defender of the country. All these manly characteristics are derived from and well suited to our ancestors' role as provider, hunter and defender. So what makes a man? Evolution.

The role of the male gender is taught from the time they are born as is to what a female is taught to be what we call, woman. That has been like this for centuries. It is the control of our own gender's that makes them so. Men have strength as well as women, Men have weakness as well as women. So what makes a man/woman, to me a man/woman is a person that can go through life being responsible for their own actions, whatever they maybe. Be honest and trustworthy. As far as being the provider of family that is not just the Man's duty, never has been. It has been a partnership between both parents male and female. They take on the roles they feel they can do the most for the family. Yes, it has been in the past that women have the babies so they stayed home to take care of the home while the man finds ways of survival of the family unit outside the home. If you look at it outside the box is it not a working team that takes on its roles in that team? In society now, both male and female not only work or stay at home, they also are on the battlefield, side by side.

Conclusion is that We, males and females must set our own values of life and live that life to that end. Not to judge others but to only judge ourself.
