Getting New Glasses This Week

Any tips for making sure I get the right prescription?
I am not good at picking the correct prescription when I go to see the eye doctor. I am getting better though. Two years ago, I got pretty close and so I actually wore those glasses most of the time. Last year, I got even closer and I have been wearing my glasses a lot more. And I even got some sunglasses last time too.
This time, I'm hoping to just get some regular glasses only. But hopefully I will really be able to get the prescription close so that I can see even more clearly. But it is just so hard for me. I wish I could take even more time to decide which lenses help and which don't. But as it is it already usually takes me over an hour. I'm just hopeful that this time I will get even better vision out of the trip. Cross your fingers!

just relax, he will take as much time as you need - and don't let him push you to do better
my client was like - "I get confused" and I told her to just make him go back if you aren't sure.
Your eyes are very important - getting the right script is vital, just take your time

Luckily, my newest eye doctor is a woman. I've had male eye doctors before and they've all seemed to be the most rushed. They never wanted to take longer than 15 minutes. Usually even after an hour I feel like I was rushed. I know I can't take up too much of their time, but hopefully I will be able to get at least a slightly better prescription this time than last time.

I always have the doctor thinking they came up with the best prescription ever for me, but then when I get the glasses and put them on, everything is generally blurry. This is the first eye doctor I've ever gone to that has gotten it to where at least the glasses don't make my vision more blurry.
I know several people with vision way worse than mine, but they have way better vision than me with glasses because they just seem to be better at picking.

It is so difficult to decide which view is the best on each lens when you are trying to find a new prescription. I do that from time to time. I am pretty good with it now, but I know that I do not have as many complications as you do. I find that it does not matter as much with prescription sunglasses, and so the ones you got last year will be fine. I usually have my old glasses tinted, for under twenty dollars, and then I have prescription sunglasses.

If you want to keep those frames anyway, use clear nail polish and paint the places they touch your face.

That's what I've been doing for all the time I've been wearing them. Since they cost over $300 with the lenses, I couldn't toss them. But the paint only lasts for 2 weeks and then I get sores behind my ears again and I keep having to do it. I just wouldn't pay the $250 to put new lenses into them for that much hassle.
My new frames are plastic and very cute. :) The frames cost much more than the metal ones and I'm sure they can't take the same type of trampling that my other frames did. But at least my painting days are over and I can give back the nail polish I borrowed from my friend.

I'm allergic to the frames I have currently, so I won't have those turned into anything. Which is rather unfortunate as I usually like to reuse frames. But yeah, my sunglasses aren't perfect but I really don't wear them much anyway. They don't give me a headache unless I've been wearing them for well over 2 hours. And I only use them for driving generally and I don't drive that far mostly.
I guess I'm lucky I only have one eye to worry about. Imagine the horror of getting glasses if I had to get a different prescription for each eye? ;)
