I want some ideas as to what to read next. I really like crime fiction, especially with forensic science written in them such as Patricia Cornwalls books with Kay Scarpetta. I also like Jeffery Deaver's Lincon Rhyme books too. I have just started reading Karin Slaughter and she seems to be good too. Any more ideas for similar books?

Another good crime writer who writes about a forensic scientist is Kathy Reichs. She has written 7 or 8 books, so far, and I've read several of them. Most of them have been very good. The TV show "Bones" is loosely based on her books and on the character Tempererance Brennan who is a forensic scientist. I think that the books are better than the TV show, though.

Perhaps you might like to read something that started it all... the forensics, I mean. That is Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Crime fiction in short story genre. My favorite is the Speckled Band. You can buy the book in anthology pocketbook. That would be a little less expensive. Enjoy reading!

You might also like James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, but the main character is a forensic psychologist, and the books are more psychological rather than forensic. Actually, I'd like to imagine that Jeffery Deaver (whose popular detective character, Rhyme, doesn't believe in forensic psychology) is actually talking about Patterson's Cross character. :)
I have been told that Karin Slaughter's books are pretty good, so I might check her out. I've tried some of Patricia Cornwell's books, but I didn't like them that much.
