1 sentence / 1 word answers are irritating...

It really irritates me when I find a response in just a single sentence. As for examplle "I like it too". I mean this is a site to share your thoughts and feelings. If you cannot use more than 1 sentence then why bother responding? Is it just me or do you feel the same? Or do you usually respond in 1 sentence or 1 word?

One sentence is bad enough. One word??? Go rate them negatively! I think they only do that to increase their points. But it will be of no use. It doesnt help any party at all. Somehow, some myLotters tend to forget that the main purpose of being here is discussing. Each topic created is to garner responses for a discussion. By giving one word or one sentence, what does that meant? The worst case scenario I've ever encountered was, the topic creator commenting back with only one word or one sentence! If I knew, I wont even bother to respond.

Commenting with a single sentence or word is normal.Because that is more like chatting with the one who responded. But it the 1 sentence response itself that turns me off. Thanks for your reply, mate

They tend to answer with one word or less than this because they have nothing to say more. They respond because it was the topic of their interest but have no idea but prefer to answer. If you are the one received that comment or response, you can not think more of what to say back because it is already answered or he/she just agree or disagree then nothing. It doesn't help but they love doing it to increase the numbers beside their name. Others just want to mess around.

I think you are right. That might happen.I never thought there could be so many possibilites for one line responses.

Yes, they're annoying. Sorry, couldn't resist. But yeah, it's kinda annoying, especially when they're responses to your own topics. You see that the number of replies is finally greater than one, and you're happy for all the two seconds it takes you to open the topic, then BAM, disappointment. I usually try to respond with more than one sentence, though sometimes I reply to topics that I think are probably going to get deleted, so I don't bother making the effort for those.

I was not just talking about my own discussions but yes when that happens it is far more annoying. But I also do not like one line responses in other peoples discussions. It is just my problem I think.

Well it is kinda space wasting for answering with a short sentence or even one word, but can't blame them, we all have our ways of responding or judging when to write more or less. I personally try to offer more than 2 phrases to cover the questions of the topic and to show some thoughts of mine, but this is my way and not a basic rule for all. At least they offer a response, it's better to have some instead of none but then again it's my thought.

Well I would say no response is better than a one liner. That is my view, of course.Mylot encourages long responses. That is what is written in its guidelines. I also prefer putting down my views in atleast 3-4 sentences if I cannot manage more. Thanks for sharing your view.

i usually write more than three lines when giving a response. if i find i have nothing or little to say to a discussion, i will not respond it. when i find very short answers, i don't feel irritating, for that's the way he likes or he happens to have no enough time to give detailed response.

As well as being irritating, short answers are against Mylot guidelines. Next to the response box it says 'please be as descriptive as possible,' which gives a major clue as to Mylot's expectations. I think some people mistakenly believe the more responses they make, the more they earn. However, as those of us who bother to find out how the site works know, Mylot is about quality, not just quantity. Quality responses earn money and respect, quantities of poor responses earn nothing and do nothing to enhance the Mylot experience.
