Have you tried eating Brown Rice? |
|
there is brown rice, red rice and even violet rice.i have tried them all. i eat them at first because i love seeing the colored rice served on my table . i have stopped eating white rice for now. At first i didn't like the taste of the brown rice, then we tried to make the boiled brown rice into fried rice . and it taste really better. we just add some seasoning sprinkeld into it. the seasoning we added are sold locally and it is Magic Sarap(delicious), a brand of seasoning for frying foods and for other soups and other cooking.
And so i feel that i don't hungry often ever since i eat brown rice every day. sometimes i feel that i can go without eating lunch and dinner and just have my breakfast of brown rice and some fried fish or fish in soup.
Because of my love of this brown rice, i become more motivated to be more health conscious and to lose weight. i do cook tofu, i stopped eating meat, pork or beaf, i usually eat fish only. i rarely eat chicken and i rarely eat on fast food any more. i just feel that my brown rice tastes much better than the food i eat from fast food restaurants. and it actually saved me a lot of money because of this .
So i ask all of you people. Have you tried eating brown rice? Did yuo like it.

2. vklancer (124) | 5 months ago | yes many times.one of our relatives said that eating brown rice is good for health. actually the polished rice we generally eat is devoid of many nutrients, because of many processing steps.brown rice has few processing steps and thus many nutrients are still present.so it is healthy. but its taste is not as good as compared to normal white rice.also it is a little bit watery.

|
hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | that is why i like making it into a fried rice to make it taste better. fried rice always taste better than the boiled rice.

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | i am glad to know there are still people who practices healthy living. when i was young i wished that i will live eating healthy foods but was not able to do it. cause of the temptation of delicious foods and the pull of fastfoods over me was strong back then. but now very much older at 37, i am more determined and more motivated to live to what i planned or believe life should be lived. i love reading healthy living books.
anyways, i do noticed that cooking brown rice takes longer than white rice. do shrea some of your healthy eating habits. i am just starting right now. with brown rice for the start. hopefully i will learn more healthy recipes. but i don't want to sacrifice the taste cause the good taste keeps me motivated to stick to it. if the food will be so awful no matter how good or healthy it is i just don't know if i will be able to stick with it.

Capsicum (837) | 5 months ago | Good luck on turning to nature, you will feel much better in the long run. Any rice worth cooking will take 40 to 45 minutes, except wild that takes up to a hr. the longer the grain is the better the rices are for you. Just PM me if you have any questions. We eat to live not live to eat! Just as it should be for a well balanced diet.

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | i totally believe in what you have said. we eat to live and not live to eat. that is what we should remember in choosing the kind of foods we ate. we should be aware that the foods we eat should be healthy and will help us live life in great health and so we can take advantage of the beautiful things life can offer us.

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | it is good that you live near plantation. that is my ideal place to live at so i can get fresh fruits and vegetables . anyways, most colored rice here are not milled. maybe they are just manually pressed by hand to take off the husk. cause i think if they are milled they iwll lose the health benefits. maybe light milling will still prevserve the natural contents.
anyways, i love colors. so i love these colored rice.

6. jonjee0203 (1657) | 5 months ago | Yes these variety of rice are hard to cook and so if you are used to the normal grains, you would have to cultivate the love of eating these species. As for me, I never did like all these unpolished brown, red or whatever coloured rice there is that are sold in organic food shops.I would go back to the softer variety any day.
| |
| |
|
|
hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | i think some unpolished rice taste great. i had tasted one given to me by my friend. it was harvested by them from their ricefields. it was easy to cook as white rice and even taste good as white rice. but the unpolished rice being sold in the supermarkets are not easy to cook and does not taste good and awful actually. so after boiling the rice, i will make them into a fried rice and add some seasoning or flavoring to make it taste better. but just a little dash of flavoring so it will still be healthy. that is why i can still eat and enjoy them every day.

7. macdingolinger (1186) | 5 months ago | I have tried brown rice and I do prefer to eat it as opposed to white rice. I don't really eat a lot of rice, but I will choose brown when I have the opportunity. understand it ahs lots more nutrients. But there are some "white" rices that retain their nurtitive values. But the plain ole white rice does have as many as the brown from what I understand.
| |
| |
|
|
hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | yeah it does have both nutritional value as long as it is unpolished. it does not matter what color. but white rice here is white mainly because they have been milled. if they are not they would have at least some streak of brown color on it. so white rice here means devoid of those nutrients we all need. since i eat brown rice i eat less of rice too mainly because i don't get hungry much as often when i eat white rice. i feel full when i eat brown rice. and so though it is more expensive that white rice here but it does save me cause i become more health conscious and i can now say no to fast food or processed foods.

8. Irishfrndly65 (7364) | 5 months ago | I don't eat white rice anymore at all. I LOVE brown rice any way you can make it. It has this great nutty flavor and it's really hearty. I think it's just the best. I've not tried the other ones you mentioned, but I bet I would have to go to a whole foods market, around here, to find red or violet rices. Thanks

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | i the violet rice i have not seen them anywhere in the supermarket. i rarely see them being sold either in the wet market here in my country. but i am sure there is some people who plants violet rice in far places in the country. but they are not being sold in the city. i would love to see them in the supermarket. as i love colors. i definitely want to cook them interchangeably with brown and red or just mix them. ha ha. wouldn't it be fun.

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | what is a wild rice. i have not heard of that before. i hope we have that here also. i don't know if all white rice are devoid of nutrients. i remember that jasmine rice as very delicious white rice. unlike most white rice variety we had around here. actually jasmine rice was like the kind of rice we had here decades ago when our country was still better off we can buy jasmine rice cheaply. it awas abundant here before as we plant them before but now we don't have them grown locally in our fields. jasmine rice we have now in the supermarket are imported from other countries now. and it is very freaking expensive. 1 kilo of jasmine rice will be about $13. imagine that.
anyways, when i don't feel like eating rice, i just eat quaker oats now. thankfully i am loving this healthy foods. hope it will be that always from now on.

hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | the jasmine rice being sold in teh supermarket is not as good as the jasmine rice that we got from other country,
anyways, i don't remember seeing that wild rice. i am sure there is a wild rice also in the market . i gonna look have a look at it closely. it does not look like a good tasting rice to me judging by the way it looks on the picture i have seen.

| 10. ChaseG08 (10) | 5 months ago | Yes i have tried eating brown rice and it just tastes a little bit different.. I mean it does not taste bad it just actually has a taste..I would reccommend that you all try to eat some...If you anly try to eat some once you should really try to east some louisiana style rice.. it is usally dirty..
| |
| |
|
|
hotsummer (2711) | 5 months ago | yeah it does have taste. but it actually depends on what kind of brown rice you bought. there are different kind of product or brands of brown rice sold in the market. some taste better than others. the first i bought has quite bad taste that was why i do make the rice into fried rice before i eat. but lately i bought a new kind of brown rice. and the taste is just fine i can eat it as boiled rice without making it into a fried rice. and so now i enjoy it now more.
