 obviously i know who he is. but i wanted to know a few opinions on him for starters hes probably the most famous person in the world. 60 years since he died and people are still talking about him. he rebuilt germany after the first world war. and of course he killed millions of people in the worlds most notorious genocide. i dont support hitler or anything dont label me a nazi i just want to know.

I was born and raised in the UK - in Sheffield - which used to be an iron and steel producing city. Sheffield during WW2 produced most of the iron and steel that went into the making of bomb casings etc. and that put us high on Hitlers hit list. I spent a great amount of my early years in a bomb shelter - built by my grandfather and uncle. We had what we called the Blitz. After the all clear siren went I remember my Grandfather taking me out of the shelter and sitting me on his shoulders and then turning to face what was the center of town. The sky was red, orange and yellow with black smoke billowing. He told me to never forget what a man named Hitler did to my home town - and believe me I never have. Kids wouldn't show up for class in school. They had been the victims of this vicious man's bombings. Our town was devastated. I think the only man that has approached what Hitler was, was Saddam Hussein. The first blitz, they missed the steelworks areas so just bombed everything in sight as they left the city. Ifg a German plane went back with bombs still on the plane the crew were put too death so for their own well being they dumped them. The second blitz they hit the area they wanted but sadly a lot of it was homes. I have a dear friend whose family lost everything in the second blitz and another friend whose oldest sister was the first human casualty in Sheffield from the bombing. I am not a violent person, I don't even believe in the death penalty, but if Hitler were alive today and someone had to shoot him I think I would volunteer.

| smellytrampsfeet (100) | 5 months ago | i was also born and raised in the uk just up the road from you in hull although not the same generation. i know of hulls history as a dock which made it a target for german bombers and i know sheffield is well known for its steel industry which made it also a major target of the germans. i have researched the war and nazi germany to much extent so i also know the devestation they left following the blitz. although i never knew it first hand. i dont know too much about saddam hussein though only about the suicide bombings but im not sure if they were to do with him or a seperate terrorist organisation or something. i am almost a total pacifist but when it comes to hitler i think fight fire with fire and if he were alive today there would be no death too painful. thank you very much for your response. | |
