USA Folks, Fema Trailers For Sale!! Dirt Cheap!  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others 3 years ago

I'm serious!! Dirt cheap!! They're on Ebay and incredibly cheap! Hubby and I were going to go look at them and even seriously considered buying one but we don't have any land to put it on.... it's that big! Like a small small house but one nonetheless. Now I'm telling you this just in case there's someone in dire need of a place to live and might have a place to put this trailer. Even if one has to buy some land to put this on, it's well worth the money!! They're '06's but have never been used so essentially, they're brand spanking new!! Go to ebay and in the search area, type in Fema trailers and you'll see it once you scroll down some.

hi Cats wish we had a trailer but they are very expensive and we also would not know where to park it here in the city. I also doubt we would use it frequently enough so it would really pay off to have one.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Considering that you're in Germany, it wouldn't work for you anyway. sad but for the folks in the USA who are struggling like crazy and are in need of a cheap home, this could be an answer to their prayers.

myLot reputation of 96/100. book1962 (16793)  3 years ago

right. Hope many will benefit from these nice offers.

I guess I mis-understood the this discussion. I was thinking you was talking about mobile homes. I went to ebay and it was campers. I already have to live in a camper. I want to apologize for mis reading this discussion. Maybe someone can tell me if they know of mobile homes that was taken to hurricane area's and now they are selling them. SMILE

Thanks Cats! I'll have to go look.. not like I can afford it.. but o wouldn't it be great to actually have a place of my own to have a kitty cat!

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Oh my gosh! Yeah!! It would be purrrrfect for you Oreo!! You could get one and make payments on it and extend it for a few years which would make the payments really low and you could have your own kitty cat!! After all, it is something to consider anyway....

myLot reputation of 98/100. pyewacket (12221)   ranked 72 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Oreo even if they were giving those trailers away for free I wouldn't get them.....remember sometime back people were getting deathly sick due to high levels of formaldehyde in them

Oh yeah, I remember that Pye. I had forgotten.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

That is true but like hubby said, anybody could air them out and clean it up to get that smell and toxins out.... can't they?

Hey Catsanddogs, thanks for posting this, I will certainly check it out. I don't need one for myself but it would certainly come in handy if I do get it. Thanks again for sharing........ Happy mylot.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

They look like houses inside for that's what they are, trailers for one to live in so it would be a great deal for anybody who needs one to use as a guest house or even a mother in law home. Happy mylotting to you too.

Thanks so much for this great information CatsandDogs. We don't need a place to live for ourselves as we just bought a house about 1.5 years ago for incredibly cheap, but not nearly that cheap.
However, my brother and sister-in-law and their two little girls need their own place to live, they are living in my mother's house at this time along with my baby sister and their three dogs. If they can find a piece of land for cheap enough this would definitely be a viable option for them.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

I'm glad to be of help in some sort of way! lol I'd hate for the idea that people who don't really need them to get them and sell them for a much higher price to make a profit when there's so many others that do need them and can't afford them. This way, they can put them in a trailer park or a camp ground and get on their feet that way without feeling like they're overcrowding someone else's home.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Actually, I'm a bit pissy right now but I'll get over it. I always do. You see, we were going to get one and put it on our property for either one of my parents in case the other passes on so they wouldn't feel alone but have their own place but after talking to mom a couple of hours ago, she didn't want us to do that because she said she'll just rent a couple of rooms out of her house and so on. I told her we had talked about this a year ago and that she agreed, she wouldn't be able to keep up with that house if dad were to go first and now this crap. I'm so sick of it. Every suggestion or idea that we come up with, it's shot down every damned time and we're just plain sick of it. We've finally given up and are backing the rest of the way out. We're not going to help them at all until they ask for our help. I will go up to clean their house on Wednesday because after dragging it out of her (she has to ask, damn it) by asking her if she needed my help which she said she did and then rambled on about this and that on how she can get only so much done in a day because her body won't let her do it like she used to do before.... bla bla bla.... but we've quit helping UNTIL they ask. If they don't ask then they'll have to figure out how to get it done themselves. We're sick and tired of the ungrateful comments so it's ended once and for all.

myLot reputation of 96/100. ANTIQUELADY (16514)   ranked 78 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Cats, it past due. U might as well stop it & let them ask for help if they need it. U are just banging your head againist a wall that's not going to move, They don't seem to appreciate all y'all have done for them. I couldn't do anything to please mine either so i know how u feel. U have got to get past the point of them keeping u upset all the time. It will drive u nuts if u let it.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

You are so right Jo. What broke the camels back was their damned ungrateful comments. Hubby told them that the next time money is needed, he's going to be sure to have both of my brothers on the phone to hear everything that goes on. We had already given them $2500. as well as another $1100. to help them out and not have to pay us back. The $1100. was for the boat that dad got from my brother and sold it to hubby (dad says he was going to give it to him) and now we're hearing this sh!t, "we didn't ask anybody for any money" OR "we're not asking anybody for any money" and the same goes with help too, "we didn't ask anybody for help" OR "we're not asking anybody for help" It has me scratching my head thinking, "Well so much for being grateful!!" Not only that but also, nor did they give it back either! But I kept my mouth shut. That's the issue going on now, besides my brother and his darling kids. I am giving up. I have to. I'll never be what SHE wants me to be.... what ever the hell THAT is....

myLot reputation of 96/100. ANTIQUELADY (16514)   ranked 78 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

CATA, the sooner u realize that u are never going to please her the better off u will be. accept the fact, u know u have tried in every way u can & go on w.your life & u & hubby just have fun & forget about trying to please them FOR YOUR OWN SAKES. BE HAPPY.

myLot reputation of 100/100. rosepedal64 (1686)  3 years ago

response to the mother situation. I know exactly where you are coming from. My mother-in-law is much that way. Whenever I make any kind of suggestion she just looks at me like Im crazy for saying such a thing. Her daughter(only girl child) can say something she will agree and go with it. The problem is that her daughter doesn't want her to do anything might upset her(the daughter) life. I wish the best and hope she will start to see that you are there to help not to hurt.

I wonder if I could buy one and put it on my property and tear down my old house? Probably not, because of zoning in the city. It does sound like quite a deal.Makes me wish I had some land out in the country.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

I wish I could tell you one way or another but you'd have to check it out with the city. Who knows? Maybe you could? Heck, the city might be happy for you to do that. lol No pun intended there GG.... As for living in the city, I couldn't. I've done that a couple of times and didn't like it one bit. I'm an ole country gal and in the country I am and am here to stay! lol

As I stated under Oreo's response these Fema Trailers no matter what the cost are NO bargain...Report after report stated that high levels of formaldehyde were found in these trailers and people were getting horribly sick living in them---

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14011193/

Here's a small quote from that article

A class-action lawsuit also has been filed in Louisiana, naming the federal government and trailer manufacturers as defendants and alleging that “the temporary housing is unsafe and presents a clear and present danger to the health and well-being of plaintiffs and their families.”

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

Hubby mentioned this in which I had forgotten about but he said we could open up the windows to air it out and then clean it up with our rug shampooer and cleaners and that should clean out the toxins but then again, maybe not. I honestly don't know.

They do look nice and sound like a great deal. I wonder if these particular trailers were some of the ones that were making people sick. You can buy anything and everything just about on ebay. I could buy one to put the house apes in if they still lived here. Take care Cats, as always its nice seeing you.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

HEY POLLY!! Good to see you too!! lol It's been a while hasn't it? My excuse is, I had to take a mental break or I'd lose it. About these trailers, I'm not sure if they're the same ones or not but I think that once they're aired out and cleaned really good, the toxins would be removed but I might be mistaken. After all, I'm not a chemist. lol

So why are they selling them all so cheap? Is it because the government needs more cash? Or because they dont think we will be having any more disasters? Or maybe its because those are the ones that made people so sick. I am shocked they are that cheap. The problem though is moving them. The costs can be pretty high. We had a friend that moved a trailor across town from one trailor park to another it cost him $1000 just across town. I dont want imagine out of state.

myLot reputation of 96/100. CatsandDogs (6424)   ranked 4 out of 835 in help others  3 years ago

I don't know why but when one finds a deal like this, we don't ask questions like that. lol We ask other questions about the item and decide from there whether to buy or not. Even if they are the trailers that have the toxins, one could clean it really good and shampoo the carpet to get it out as well as open all the windows to get fresh air inside. Plus to move it, it's in Tennessee and we're in North Carolina. It would've cost us around 6 - 7 hundred dollars to have it shipped to our house. No kidding....
