Just an earthquake happens in Japan  

I've never experienced an earthquake,but some of my friends told me that kind of feeling is quite horrible. Last year, the earthquake in Sichuan, China took a lot of people's lives away.My cousin was there at that time. Fortunately, he survived. He told me when the earthquake happened, the building began to shake seriously and people run out of the rooms crazily. People were all very scared just like doomsday was coming.
I know that Japan has a lot of earthquakes, so you're good at protecting yourselves during an earthquake.

I have never felt one before, Thank God. But my aunt use to live where they had them in California all the time. When we would here about one on TV my mom would have to call and make sure she was ok out there. My grandmother went out there and stayed one whole winter and she said she got woke up one night by the whole bed moving. I cant even imagine. I would not want to live where there are earth quakes.

hey there, i hope you are fine because i know Japan does experience quite a lot of earthquakes. I have experienced a huge earthquake, i can still remember clearly, i was in year 10. It was 8.1 Richter.
it happened at 11.30pm, just one night before my final exam. it was a horrible experience. it stared slowly with a small one, then continue on to the big ones, it shakes the whole house, we can hear stuffs falling off the shelfs, all the ceramics and mirrors were broken, the family pictures came off the wall, power outage. we could not find the torch and keys to get out of the house, my younger sisters and i were all crying and screaming, my mom was panicking alot but lucky my dad was really calm and collected, he found the torch and keys and we got out of the house. i remember we could not even walk properly, we were all very dizzy, we stayed outside for the night with the neighbours and in the morning we found our house in such a mess.. huge cracks on the wall, broken glasses, mirrors everywhere, all the furnitures were out of place, they moved by at least half a metre!! bad bad bad experience, i hope it wont ever happen to me again!!

I lived in California for a couple of years when I was much younger. I remember one earthquake, but it wasn't that bad. I was fortunate because so many earthquakes in California have been really bad. I currently live in the state of Oklahoma. We actually have earthquakes, but they are so slight they hardly register. In fact, there has only been one time where people actually felt the earthquake, and the people who reported it just reported a slight shudder. They aren't any big deal in Oklahoma, unlike in California.

Hi ayukawasouhiko, this too is an earthquake area and we often feel minor trembles but nothing severe. The local town did suffer considerable damage in the 70's and many buildings were destroyed. They give a strange feeling as if the floor is tilting. I was actually in a taverna one night and one half of the room felt tremors and the opposite side didn't, the only thing I knew was that the light fittings from the ceiling suddenly started swinging a lot yet I felt nothing.

Yes, I did some thing way back High school. I thought some one was rocking my chair and a few minutes a student went up and told the class to go down to the gym. i thought it was another drill but it was the real thing. we were like laughing because we could have end up dead if the magnitude was a lot higher.. seems scary a bit knowing you didn't go down on such emergency.

It must have been something,I have never had this event happen in my area of US. I think it would scare the living daylights out of me.But yet you say it with excitement ! What does the 4 degree's mean ? Glad to see all is well and you are still here!!!!

Several months ago, I experienced a earthquake on the campus. That night after 11 pm, someone said she felt something abnormal, that the bed had shaken sightly. We don't take her words seriously at first. But several minutes later, another girl came in and told us that many people who lived on high floors felt strong quake and some didn't want to stay in the building any longer. We prepared many things in case of emergency and then went to bed. The next day, we learned that the earthquake had happend somewhere 200-300 kilometers from our school. It was not destructive because it had happened on the sea.

Thank god, i havent't experienced the big earthquake, i've felt tiny earthquake when i was child, it was just the land move by itself. When it happened my whole family ran out from the house and then we and the neighbours slept on the yard outside the house, we just could look the star in the sky.

Japan is mostly visited by earthquake. I remember the 1995 earthquake in Kobe, Japan where there were thousands of casualties. Here in our area we have already experienced several earthquakes with different magnitudes. The highest was in 1991 with a magnitude of 5, if I remember right. I was just a teenager when it happened. Our hanging lamps swayed back and forth and the ground was really shaking.
