Do you think South Park really teaches us a lesson?

I HATE this show with a passion. I don't think it teaches our kids anything except how to turn out rude and obnixiuos. I don't think any kids should be allowed to watch it. Maybe my sense of humor is gone, but I find nothing entertaining, funny, or as a learning tool on this show!

well it sure teaches how to speak foul. and how to add f*** in every sentence. lol
and the moral it gives at the end is sometimes really impressive but who will remember that. only thing that lingers is f*** in every sentence.
In any case i love this show. But i don't think its meant for children.

South Park in no way can be watched by children. It's a grown up animation, cause not all animations are children stuff. There are many japanese animation masterpieces that proves it. The funny thing is, I'm fan of South Park since I'm like 12.

South Park, in my opinion, teaches how big of a mess the american society can be. Of course it takes it to extremes, but all the idea of small town boys saying dirty things all the time is actually an ironic metaphor of the ambiguity of morality values.

So, I think it's a social satire just like the Simpsons, but much more hardcore and dark. And because of that, really funnier than The Simpsons, IMO.

well yes definitely ..in almost all Southpark episodes, there are certain facts and lessons that are learned although the language's too foul. Initially I was heard that Southpark as an adult cartoon with nothing but foul language but after watching it it does make me feel some things are definitely true

I love South Park and I agree that it is up to the parents to decide whether or not their kids should watch it. I personally wouldn't let them watch it. On the other hand though things that South Park says is said in public where you take your children. I believe the lesson is that we are free to say what we want and when we want to and it's up to the listeners to decide whether they agree or not.

I think lessons can be found everywhere. No matter what the situation you can learn from it. Even South Park (full disclosure: I hate the show).

It is incredibly important that parents monitor what their children watch and learn. Part of being a parent is guiding your children's explorations of the world. If you allow the world to teach them, then you are abdicating a huge part of your responsibilities.

That said, no matter what your children pursue, there is an opportunity for parents to get involved in the process. Even if it is only asking them why they enjoy what they enjoy and what that means in the larger scheme of things.

Banning things because "they will corrupt the young," is ignorant and a sure-fire way to destroy any advancement the human race might achieve.

Sadly there are many variables as to why people plop their kids infront of a tv. But you know what if one can get away with a vchip in their tv than there's no worries as long as they get outside to do stuff. Honestly, I think other than the F bombs and an occasional inuendo it's not nearly as bad as family guy. And atleast here SP is put in a late night time slot. Family Guy is on @ dinner time.
