Core i7- buy now or wait it out

I was thinking of building a new computer with an Intel Core i7 975. I need your thoughts on whether I should buy now or wait it out. According to many websites, there is going to be a successor to Nehalem called Sandy Bridge in 2010. Do you think I should wait for Sandy Bridge? Thanks.

That entirely depends according to your needs. Why buy a Core i7 if your Core 2 Duo/Quad is serving you well? I'd say its impractical not to mention the huge price gap between the two latest processors. For people with Pentium 4 or lower processor, you have a good reason to upgrade to Core i7, since its the latest. But if you already have a Core 2 Duo/Quad, you might as well wait for a year or two before upgrading, by then Sandy Bridge would have materialized. Peace!

May be wait a bit more than now as regards intel i7 processors!!Surely it is the best now for rpocessors in desktops but you know in this period i guess the computer brands still waiting to sell the latest machines they have in their stores before lauching some good one!!i think many of them are waiting for windows 7 lauch and so all configurations will change for the new os microsoft i guess!!DSurely this technology is really nice and your desktop will be fast and good with this i7!!may be you can wait a bit when the sandy bridge will be available to compare them and so have the posibility to do the right choice for you!!

For me I'll wait, enough time for software, drivers and price to adjust with the new tech. Beside there would certainly be a price drop when Sandy Bride arrive and that's not too long.

For me, I will just wait for the price to go down. I am still happy with my Quad Core and it really serves me best, so far. Maybe I will decide to upgrade to i7 when it has a fair market value and price. But as todate, I won't.
