Now a days door to door selling of products even by leading companies has become a practise. Very often I can hear the door bell and when answered there are people ready to sell a product of a company with some free gifts or for a discount from the original rate. Sometimes we are deceived, although many a times it is a good bargain.
People are also of the opinion that the quality of the product may be not good, not genuine or even stale. I do not buy most of the stuffs and even if I do I have so far not been deceived, but many of my friends say they have been.
Have you had this experience before? Do you always buy whatever comes to your doorstep?

I used to buy from those people once in a while when I was at home. Now, I stopped buying and rarely very few people come to my house to sell things. Once my parents bought two bed sheets which were supposed to be a good brand, but it wast totally damanged and lost the color once we washed it for the first time. This incident made us stop buying things.
Another time my mom paid for the first installment of a dictionary. She paid 250 ruppees, but we never got the dictionary. We never saw that sales person again to get the second installment.

Never pay anything in advance, unless you get the product in hand you should not pay, they will never turn up. Thanks for your response

I generally do not buy any stuff from sales person came to my doorstep but sometimes if I found product is of well brand which I generally use and have some good offer[discounts] for sale/ promotion of that product then I do buy such stuff which is interesting, useful and well brand.

Depends on what product he/she gets to the doorstep. If it is household products (Consumer goods) i do get them if they have some great discounts or offer. We have many phoney salespeople coming every now and then and we drive them off. But at times we do buy thinking that these people survive on these sales and we get it out of pity/sympathy.

I have the habit of buying products which are sold at our doorstep by the sales person. I first see to it that the company of the product is genuine and the price stated by them is lesser than the market price before i buy them. Some products are sold by door salesman before the company launches the product in the market for a feedback from the customers. Such products are really good and are also cheaper than the shops.
In today's world when everthing has become project oriented the students of business are made to sell products from house to house. I have bouhgt many products from such students who get their marks and credentials for their marketing skill. We cannot just shoo them saying they are salesperson.
Till date i have never been cheated by any of these doorstep salesperson.

Hi yogambal, it is annoyed to meet the salesperson knocking on my doorstep. When I was staying with my mother, we used to get many salesperson knocking on the door or door bell. I don't and never opened the door for them. If I need to buy something, I will choose to buy outside from the market or the malls directly. But now I have shifted to my condo with security guard facility. Meaning to say no more salesperson can reach my doorstep anymore.

I will not buy everything from these salepersons because in my country have crimes about the salepersons knock doors alot.Sometime they pretend to sell but in the fact they will enter to steal the valued stuff instead.
