Can someone please explain e-how to me? |
|
I wrote an article for e-how and I even signed up for pay. The article has already been published. Do they give upfront payments for the articles and if so how do you get the upfront payment? Do you know if you are going to get an offer or if they are just going to publish the article? I don't really know how it works yet. In fact, I did one article to see the layout and I will actually have to go revise the article. Any help on e-how will be greatly appreciated.

1. scheng1 (1672) | 4 months ago | *knock your head* why dont you ask before joining ehow? You should join Demand Studios, and let Demand Studios assign you to write for Ehow. In that case, you can make upfront payment or choose the kind of payment scheme you want. When you join ehow direct, you can only earn from the advertisement income. It doesnt' matter how many page views you get. If the readers dont click on the advertisement, you get nothing. When the readers click on the advertisement, you get part of the revenue.

mommaj (1056) | 4 months ago | HAHAHA. I thought if you guys were members of those you'ld be throwing out the names at some point. I should have known better. LOL I guess I will join Demand Studios as soon as I get a chance to look at it.

scheng1 (1672) | 4 months ago | Hi Mommaj, you cannot "join" Demand Studio, you can only apply to join Demand Studio. Demand Studio is very strict in the selection of writers. They do not accept international writers, and require the native writers to possess a reasonable good writing skill. Some writers can make 30k per year in Demand Studio. Once they accept you, you have to "catch" the title, and write to the title. For new writers, DS will assign for E-how.

mommaj (1056) | 4 months ago | Interesting. I may have to check into that now. I really need to do something. AC is messing with me. I wrote an article on brakes and they rejected it saying the info was too readily available. My husband put it onto his account and they offered him $3.50. I was so pisssssed it wasn't funny.

scheng1 (1672) | 4 months ago | haha, AC doesn't like cave-woman! Fortunately your husband still manages to get the money! Hi Canellita, you can check out Demand Studios. They are the owner of Ehow and a few writing sites. New writers always get to write for e-how. DS pays upfront, as well as long term passive income. Since your command of English is so powerful, you can consider the Editor post instead. DS is very stringent in the selection of writers and editors, good luck to both of you.

Canellita (3210) | 4 months ago | My command of English may not be so powerful after all. I received an email from helium yesterday that they had edited the paper butterfly article for commas and shorter sentences. I thought, 'hmmm that is interesting' and went to look but I can not see what they really did.
I also received an email from AC that my last submission had been reviewed. They suggested a better first paragraph and adding commas, etc. I know I did it in a hurry but now I will really have to go back and look at what I submitted.
The only problem is that the original is on my hard drive and I still haven't located my startup disc to get the file I need in order to boot up. I was only home long enough to do one article for helium and then come back to my second home to deal with electrical issues and get my honey from one gig to the other and come back because the electrician said the problem was outside and the power company had to come out. All of this was in between rain storms, of course. At least the air temp was cooler...
I did at least manage one business article today and one education article, whoo-hoo!

scheng1 (1672) | 4 months ago | haha Canellita, you must have lost pound of fats just running up and down. Actually a better way to do article backup is using email. You can create one hotmail, one gmail, and send the article from this email to the next. In this case, you can access to your article everywhere you go. Your command of English is powerful enough to be an Editor in Demand Studios. I do not know how they pay Editors, nobody has mentioned anything about this. You can browse the forum in AC for more details of Demand Studios. They call it DS. Many AC writers use AC as a platform to build up portfolio, before applying to DS.

mommaj (1056) | 3 months ago | Well that's good to know that Canellita is having these problems. LOL I've seen your writing and it looks professional. Maybe they sent the email to the wrong person? It was probably meant for me if it had comma issues. LOL I have to agree with Scheng.

2. Canellita (3210) | 4 months ago | I used to visit e-how years ago as a site to learn how to do things. Recently I was surprised to hear that they were now paying for contributors. Way back when they were one of the few sites around of that kind and now there is all kinds of stuff everywhere. I have yet to venture back to ehow as a writer. Let me know how it goes!

mommaj (1056) | 4 months ago | They didn't give me an offer they just published my article as is. The article wasn't that great so I can't be too upset. I wasn't sure what it would look like with their numbering. Basically, you give instructions and that's it.

3. kykidd (4555) | 3 months ago | Hi there mommaj, I see this article is 2 months old already, so you might have already gotten the answers to your questions.
I have written for Helium, Associated Content, and am now writing mainly for ehow. The reason is the residuals seem to add up a lot faster. Sure, if you write an article on the other 2, and it is sold to someone else, then you will receive a good lump sum. But, otherwise, the residuals seem to add up much too slowly.
I now receive a monthly payment from ehow in my paypal account. It's really exciting, and it doesn't seem like too much effort to write one article here and there. And, I get to do the thing that I enjoy doing.
Good luck to you with your writing, and all of your online adventures. P.S. Here is one of the last articles that I wrote on ehow. http://www.ehow.com/how_5...

mommaj (1056) | 3 months ago | Thanks for the info on e-how residual pay. I like AC the best because I get $25+ a month in residuals and they pay me upfront payments. I received a 1099 last year and am going to get one again this year because of the writing I do.

mommaj (1056) | 3 months ago | Good luck with e-how. I wrote the one article and haven't written anything else. The article turned out horrible that I wrote because I didn't understand the formatting. It really is bad. Needless to say that was my first and probably last article on e-how.
