How important is food to you? Eat to live or live to eat?

We see a lot of people eating for eating's sake. What do you think of this? I eat to survive. Any overeating will make me sick, diabetes is a hard condition. I some times feel jealous of people who get to eat all they want and still stay healthy. I am also concerned at all the obesity that is visible. What do you think?

Diabetes does often run in families. So many things do, that it's a bit scary. I do know that you must be taking good care of yourself, and that goes a long way toward keeping the disease under control. I pray for your continued good health habits and for comfort for you.

Diabetes was a part of inheritance, I can't wish it away. So I do the next best thin. I treat it as a pet dog. Love it, take care of it and enjoy its company.

We eat in order to live and not we live just to eat.
People were getting obese becoz of too much eating. And food chains were everywhere,so easy to get in,dine in and have foods.
It's just a matter of self discipline. We don't need to eat too much from what our body needs. And we should be aware of what we are eating, not all foods were healthy, but, rather dangerous to our health. That is why lots and lots of people are getting so much ailments nowadays due to unhealthy way of eating. And this is really sad.

I fully agree with you. Fast food has become a fad and young people feel the need to eat eat all the times. The reason can be fashion, the allure of being in a fast food joint, peer pressure and so on. I do not object to my children eating such food occasionally, but insist on a salad instead of fries. That way perhaps, the damage is minimized.

It's not that important to me. I'd much rather eat to live than live to eat. There are days that I may splurge, but I don't do it very often. I like to stop eating as soon as I'm full, even if that means leaving some food on my plate.
Happy mylotting.

I try not to let myself live to eat. I really enjoy food but when I let myself enjoy it too much, I overeat and then get sick from it. I rather just eat to live and only eat food to maintain my health rather than enjoy it.

Terrific! People should have this attitude to care for health more than fashion or taste. You could be a roll model for so many young people. I hope and pray you will maintain this forever and enjoy good health.

webearn hi I take it you are also a diabetic.its a constant battle to keep on an even keel. I like to eat but like you I cannot just pig out on myfavorite foods, I have to be sensible and since I a m
overweight I must also lose some pounds. I also sometimes feel
jealous of those who get to eat whatever they want and still stay
healthy. for us its a whole different ball game. one thing if a person can afford it is to eat more protein than carbs so you
have less spikes in blood glucose, also concentrate on all the good veggies you like. veggies dont spike our blood sugar either. I must eat to live, not live to eat or else I am feeling really lousy, high blood sugar is just not worth it for a few moments of pleasure. its hard on our bodies, and it makes us feel lousy too. good luck and God bless

Yes it is a hard choice! Some times when the temptation is too much, I just eat a full compliment of raw, undressed salad and then start out on my favorite. That way I can eat what I want, and not over do it either. The silver lining in the cloud is that I am from a community where vegetarianism is mandatory. So I am not loaded with heavy protein. Thank You and take care of your health.

I definitely eat to enjoy food.. more than just for survival sake. I choose food that I believe tastes good or food that I want to eat because you have to eat anyways.. why not enjoy the food as well right? it makes meals more interesting and meaningful as well!

It makes a lot of sense to eat what you enjoy. This combined with health is the best way. Thank you for the response.
