My humming birds have gone through 10 pounds of sugar and I am having to buy more. I can't remember ever having so many birds. Do you feed birds? If you do are there more this year?

When I moved from wooded property in the country to an apartment in our small city, I was surprised at how prevalent the wild life is here. Yes, more birds than ever this summer, including the humming birds, who sip from both the feeder and some of my flowers. The males always look as though they're dressed up to go somewhere fancy in their little green "tuxedos," lol. Karen

We have two different types here and they fight over the food, I often wonder how much energy is spent by that. Thanks

Probably a ton of energy! I forget how many times their little hearts beat per minute, but it is a lot. It seems that sometimes, one male will try to dominate a feeder and run others off.

Well sparrows will come to a feeder if you have a place to feed them. We even have feeders that attach to a window and that way you can see the birds up close. I don't know if they have anything like that available where you live.

I have fed birds here for around 8 years and there seem to be more this year than ever before. The feeder is emptied every day and it's never been like that before. Sometimes they seem frantic to get to the food. I wonder if they're preparing for a hard winter?

I have a bird feeder outside the window. Some cardinals have nested in the shrubery there and so they feed and live around close. It's fun to watch them. I've watched their babies grow up this season!

We don't get cardinals here, but have many others, in fact I was just watching a parent sparrow feed a grown baby who should have been feeding it's self. As long as the baby hangs with the parents and begs they seem to feed it. Thanks
