I just read today in the news that there have reportedly been multiple mermaid sightings in Israel. The town of Kiryat Yam government has offered a $1 million reward for the first person to photograph the creature.
Apparently, the sightings began several months ago and the supposed mermaid has been sighted by several people. The town is ecstatic as they see it as Scotland's Loch Ness Monster. They hope to bring in more tourists to the town and increase the economy with tourist dollars.
It would really be interesting if they actually found a legitimate mermaid, caught it on video or in a photograph. Stranger things have happened. If they do exist it is probably not exactly what we think it would be.

Hi , this is great information no doubt
I am from india, our Hindu religion books have many stories about mermaids. Above the waist it is woman with boobs, below the waist it is fish like. One can see them in our mythological movies and books.
They are known as ‘Matshya-kanya’; means ‘Fish-woman’. Long back I heard about fisherman catching something similar in some seashore.
Recently a doctor friend sent the a photo to me. It looks like one, but he clearly told me it was of a baby, having birth defect.
I think mermaids are imaginary characters only.
Thank you so much for this nice discussion.and sharing the link.
Professor. . Cheers, have a great day ahead.
God bless you. Welcome always.

That is really interesting! I wonder if they really did find a mermaid or merman, what language they would speak! It would be interesting to me if it was the same language that the dolphins use! We could learn the language of the sea!!
Sadly enough, scientists would probably want to poke and prod and eventually kill and dissect it and the merpeople would exist no more or never show themselves to us again!!

This is a brilliant idea of the town to offer this huge incentive! Thousands of people will be trying to either prove the mermaid is real or prove she is a hoax!

that's interesting, this isn't the first time that mermaid report has been known. they were reports too of mermaid skeleton found somewhere in Asian but that was long ago, i don't even know if it's real. i don't even know if this information is real..i hope you sent us more photos of it @g_vickie84 (576)

I think these kind of things are more of a publicity stunt then reality. Every year so many similar news come and even then we keep on running after all these kind of news. I do not understand what people get by spreading these kind of news. Like somedays back a russian lady tried to destroy the portrait of Mona Lisa, just to get some fame and attention by the media. Similarly in this case also some people are giving false news about the mermaid sightings may be just to get there city on the world may. May be this way they will get tourists from all over the world and they can get to earn some good money out of it.

I think they know how to bring people into the small town for photography and videography hunting. We love legends and paranormal, many people believe that mermaids are real. We know only so much about the deep sea life...maybe Atlantis have their own underwater city and they look like half people half fish....???
