Before I had my period, in health ed I learned about periods and cramps and how to deal with the pain. When I finally got my period, it didn't hurt at all. I thought it was normal but then I'll see my mom moody during her period days and my friend also complains of the pain during her period. Does it hurt when you get your period?

Yes it hurts when I get myperiod. I'll trade you. I am on mine right now. I get sevre cramping in my lower back. Sometimes advil doesn't even help relieve the pain. I have noticed that the older I get the pain increases. I am 38 yrs old. I did not use to get pains when I was younger. My hurt so bad now that I feel like I am in labor all over again with one of my kids.

First off let me say that you are pretty lucky. Every woman is different on the level of pain they go through if any. When I was a teenager and first started my menstraul cycle the cramps were unbearable. I would be doubled up in pain with a heating pad on my stomach. After having children the cramps are more of an annoyance than anything. Still there, but not as bad. Usually Midol helps the cramps, but I've heard that doesn't always work for everyone.

yes, there are times that i feel so uncomfortable when i have my period specially on the second day...its really painful and i feel sick...sometimes i can't do anything because of this...but there are also times that i don't feel anything and i like those times...you know, whenever i feel pain during my periods, i even cry and i am afraid for the next month to come! huh!

Yes! I totally hate dysmenorrhea and yet i always experience it a few days before and during my period. It is so devastating since the pain is so intense, I had to skip work a few times because I cannot get out of bed. painkillers work though but without those, it is terrible, really!

It affects different women differently of course. For the first many years of mine, i never really had any pain, discomfort or mood swings, but i have found that as i have gotten older, (and as weird as it is, once i started on the birth control pill, which many people say alliviates these symptoms) i find that i am more apt to suffer from annoying, sometimes quite painful cramps, and mood swings.
Just be thankful that you have it easy right now!!

Mine weren't too bad when I first started. But I've found that mine has gotten worse with each pregnancy. At first I just got a bit of an ache every month. Three kids later and I absolutely dread that time of the month. Everything hurts from my knees to my chest and I'm either grabbing or crying the whole time. To top it off, I also get the wickedest headaches. Last month a friend gave me Midol. I haven't tried it in like 15 years because it didn't do much for me then. It must be improved because it worked like a charm. This month, I'm buying my own bottle.

Count yourself fortunate not to have cramps before and during your period. I have cramps so bad that...well, let's just say that when I marry and have children, I'll be well prepared to give birth with no epidural whatsoever because I've had the practice with the pain. Every month without fail, I have to go lie down and put a heating pad on just to make it ease up. :( It's no fun at all.
