oh to have clean carpets again!!!

About a month ago, I borrowed my moms carpet cleaner....and already my carpets are a mess again....of course I have 2 kids and a very big kid(hubby) that like to bring food out in the living room and then bye-bye clean carpet!!! 
So, now I have to borrow the cleaner again and then spend an day recleaning the rugs --again!! 
How often do you shampoo your carpets?? Do you own your own carpet cleaner machine....do you use a service?? Did you finally get rid of the carpets and put in hard wood because of the messy carpets??

The only carpet I have in my house is in the kitchen and on the stairs. The rest is hardwood. I wish that it was all hardwood, or at least reversed. Having carpet in my kitchen is horrible. I do own my own carpet cleaner. I have to clean my carpets at minimum once every two or three months. It gets dirty faster than that, but I don't have the time to clean it as often as it really needs to be done. After 2 or 3 months, I simply cannot deal with it anymore, and I have to break out the cleaner.

oh I wouldnt like carpet in my kitchen either... I did the shampoo machine again today but it didnt get some of the stains out... I might have to look into getting something else soon.. but not until next year --it isnt in the budget right now.

Hello,
I have a carpet in my living room too... and I just clean couple months ago but now it is also a mess again... but I'm not doing it right now cuz too busy. I usually rent a machine from the store close by my house.

I am glad that I didnt have to rent a machine, I can use my moms but when we lived in the apartments we would rent them --since my mom didnt have hers yet... but at this rate I might have to invest in my own if I have to do it every month!!
