Ever Seen a Movie That Was Way Too Loud?

I don't go to the movie theater too often. A couple of times when I had been to see a movie years ago, the volume of the movie was so loud that I couldn't even enjoy it. I was younger then so it's not like I was an older person complaining of the noise. Ever been to a really loud movie theater where you couldn't even enjoy the movie?

Yes and I haven't been since. We went to see the Harry Potter movie that was before the on that just came out last month and it was so loud that I couldn't stand it and some of the words I couldn't make out since it was so loud.

No, my husband wouldn't let me. He know that I get upset as a consumer and I'm ignored. He just told me that we would buy it when it came out on dvd. I wasn't very happy but, I was trying to make him happy so I let it go.

That's pretty bad when you can't make out the words to the movie. Did you complain to the management?

my biggest problem with loud movies is that they tend to be in the theater NEXT to me

It can be very distracting, especially during a love scene -

I've noticed that too. It can really interfere with the movie that I'm trying to watch.

It gets pretty loud watching a movie at a theater especially the action movies. It's not like at home dvd where you can change the volume. I usually enjoy the movie anyways even if it's too loud.

I've been to a few movies that blew my hair back, I like action movies so it doesn't bother me. I did see the new Harry Potter and it was so soft sounding that I couldn't understand anything they were saying.

That's funny. I never noticed my hair blowing back on my head from the sound. Maybe the hairs on my arm stuck up though.

At least that way you can adjust the sound to your liking.

I can't think of anyone movie which has been too loud. But I can think of several movies which have very loud scenes in them which last for just a few seconds but shock you by the noise level, such as any of the Screeam movies. These are the sort which if you are watching at home late at night are a real pain as you have to have one hand on the remote to turn the volume down so that you don't wake up the rest of the house, lol.

Yes. I have been to a theatre where the sound was just too loud. I hate that. You cannot even hear yourself think. I guess they paly it loudly because alot of people talk in a theatre and alot of people get distracted and cannot hear.

when i saw "the empire strikes back" years ago when it came out, they had that sound system CRANKED.while it was kind of neat for awhile,by the end i'd gotten a headache.but they'd just gotten a new sound system there,so they were probably showing off.

I remember seeing that movie too and the sound system being almost unbearable. I guess they wanted to make sure that we never forgot the sound effects.

I've been to a couple of loud movies- especially the action movies. It was a little uncomfortable at times, but it was bearable. After all, the loud volume was part of the movie so I had to accept that.

It does seem to be mostly the action ones doesn't it?

Yes! This has happened to me! And it is horrible because not only could I not enjoy the movie, but I left with a horrible headache. At first, I thought maybe it was just me, but then other people complained to the movie theatre about the volume as well, so I guess it wasn't just me after all.
