Were you told your Child was JUST A child?  | |  My mother is telling me that my son is just being a boy. yet, when he is with other kids his age, I can see a major difference in how he acts, reacts to them, and its soo much different.
He was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 3 but they wanted to see if he "grew" out of it by time school started, he is now 6. There are days where he can be the "perfect child" (better than average for him) and then days where he just bounces off walls and drives me insane....
I just wanted to see how many were told they were "normal"

| | | | | | | | 1.  meandmy3 (1328) | 4 months ago |  If you are concerned you should check out a few other things that are often misdiagnosed as ADHD. one being Sensory processing disorder the other being aspergers syndrome. If you would like to know more about either of these let me know.

 charblaize (379) | 4 months ago | oh, my son definitely has ADHD, but many of my family members and a few doctors said he was just a child...I can see the difference in my son and other children, he isn't a sitting type of child and can't focus on finishing a task. Luckily, in sports its something he enjoys so he will play and be active. | |

He was a very active, curious child and constantly on the move but that's the type of behavior I've always seen in young boys. I think he was normal and the teachers just didn't want to deal with it. One of his jobs before school was to run around the house as many times as he could! That helped. He was just a normal, healthy boy and by the time he was 8 he calmed down.
Some children need more activity. Their brains are going as fast as their bodies want to go and that's perfectly normal. Some do have chemical problems, though I think there are fewer of them than are actually diagnosed.
