I know most have financial problems, but based on what I've learned in my personal finance 101 sessions with one of the best companies there is, they've always taught us that if you want to save you must first know where your money is going. I've always tried starting up my daily list of expenses, but couldn't really complete it or make it as a habit, until very recently. Do you list down your expenses? Do you think it's good to do so? Almost all of the 'successful' people (money-wise) I know have made it a habit to list down their expenses. What do you think?

I write down each week what needs to be paid or bought and keep that list posted. I write down what I make and what my husband makes so we can see quickly how we need to budget ourselves for the week and it has really helped us have a little extra at the end of the month, that is as long as we both have good work weeks. Money has been tight lately though and it's really helped us get by each week to see that list.

Yeah, it's good to do that too. But honestly, it's a difficult thing to monitor. It entails discipline. How do you guys not grow tired of doing that routine?

It's just a routine we've gotten into and it's easy to keep up with, especially for me, since we can see our expenses listed down and know how much to set aside for the week. It doesn't take long either, so I think that helps.

My expenses are very limited, so I don't really make any list of expenses. But I do keep a track of my expenses mentally. Its only when we go to tournaments with our friends and have to spend and divide equally the question of keeping a list comes to mind. Otherwise, its all in mind.

Listing up our expenses a day will help us to save money. With me, i can't do it. I keep on spending,i never tried to monitor all my expenses. this time, since we are in the recession period, I am trying to lessen my expenses. I don't buy things that are really not necessary.there are some instances that i do some recycling just to save.

I admit I never do this, and all in all I am not that great with my finances. I think that making a list of all your expenses is a fabulous idea in principle but it is really quite hard to stick to in practice.
