Why Does Sexism Still Exist? | | In this day and age, if someone were to call a black person a n***er, a word which I happen to find to be one of THE MOST OFFENSIVE WORDS in ANY language, all hell would break loose.
There is also freedom to practice religion, even if it interferes with the day to day life of the country (case in point, here in Canada, some Seik members of the RCMP and other police forces want to wear their turbans instead of the regular police hats, but would they allow a non Seik to wear a Western style hat if a turban was part of the uniform in their country?), some pockets of the USA in the FUNDAMENTALIST LDS church (not to be confused with mainstream Mormons) still practice polygamy, even though it's technically illegal...
...and yet WOMEN still struggle for equality!!!!!
Take a look at the last election. There were actually KKK members who would vote for Barack Obama before they'd vote for Hillary Clinton, because atleast Obama was MALE.
What's the deal with that?
In this era of political correctness, and even though sexism is obviously recognized, why is it still less of an issue that racism, and freedom of religion? Why do men still rule the world?

As for the "N" word, which I agree is extremely offensive, the worst abusers of that word in my experience are black people themselves. Personally I'd be quite happy to let women run the world. Then we men could get on with doing what we do best - nothing! LOL.

A black man can experience racism and he will take the correct actions to stop it, plus here in the United States it is illegal to discriminate against color of skin. Black women experienced racism and supported the men that stood up to do something about it because they felt the pain. Men haven't really experienced sexism and so they don't feel the pain to support women in their fight. I experienced sexism all the time when I worked in contruction and men did not believe that a woman could know anything about building houses and using tools luckily my brother worked in the same field (I was his boss) and he stuck up for me.

General_Spacey (1194) | 5 months ago | wrong. when I worked at a subway chain for this one lady, ONLY women were managers, and got full time and benifits. I was with this group since the day the first shop was opened. Yet, I was stuck at about a buck above minimum wage and no health insurance. Since I was stuck under the "skirt glass ceiling" and no chance to get any benifits, I quit. It happens. But not to all that many men.

ZephyrSun (3506) | 5 months ago | Exactly, so why would there be a big movement to change the thoughts of men especially the older ones and the ones stuck in male dominated fields.

Who knows we might start getting some female captains of industry next ....
And in schools here at the moment a full 75% of the top grades in schools are being obtained by girls, so expect these developments to continue.
Meanwhile the boys are riding round the schoolyards on their skateboards and don't know seem to what books are, the male opposition leader is about to get trounced in the elections in September (despite filling his election cabinet team with women), the number of women being elected is likely to increase, meaning more women are going to likely to be cabinet ministers.
In fact except for the expenses scandal surrounding Ulla Schmidt, things from the female perspective don't look too bad here (oh, and the continued absence of female captains of industry). Final comment - I am male, and it does not bother me at all! Talent needs to be recognised and rewarded.

Ok, socialogy class in high school 1973:) My thinking is I like having doors opened for me, love being put up on a pedistal and 'protected', I enjoy taking care of my family & home (when I was afforded that pleasure) and don't see anything at all wrong with it.
I also saw the time when the single white male was bottom of the pile - companies had to have so many 'minority' employees females and different races other than 'white' so those groups were being offered more money for equal jobs.
What can I say except it's a messed up world and don't think we'll every get it straightened out so everyone is pleased - at least not the way humans think.

Women who do succeed have to work twice as hard and often for half the pay that men get.But our fight for equality seems to have led to a lack of respect. Is it because men are afraid of losing their power? All we want is to be treated as equals - not ahead of or behind a man. To walk side by side. Is that so much to ask?
Maybe men still want to be cavemen and just take what they want because they are usually physically stronger.

Finland, and many other countries also have female leaders. Why don't you run for office??? I did 4 times, and even though I did N OT get elected, MOST of my proposals got passed into law. So stop flappin your gums uselessly, and run for office and flap your gums for a real purpose.
