that suits you. I do agree with you, an uncomfortable pillow
will affect our sleep and may result with stiff neck.

I understand, it is not easy to get one 'perfect' pillow
that suits us...we need to mix and match..or ..really shop
around for the 'in between', not too soft nor too hard.

No wonder, many people preferred their old pillow than the new one.

I missed my pillow very much when I travel, happily back
home and rest my head on my old, familiar pillow!

Yes my dad was a wunderdad! He could sleep even without pillows and blankets. We on the vother hand, were spoil rotten and wanted all kinds of bed complements and accessories when we sleep. Not him! All he needs is a flat plywood,two volume of the Brittanica hard covers and he is away in his dreams. True, ancient civilization sleep on real hard surfaces too.

Do you remember the movie based on the popular romantic novel,
'Memoirs of Geisha' starring Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh (Malaysian)
and Gong Li? Now I recalled that Zhang Ziyi slept on those hard
pillow during the olden times and this will not mess up her hair.

Two years ago I went to Shanghai, and nearby province where they
produce very good quality silk..for materials, blankets, comforters
and pillows. They also produce pillows which contain silk worms'
faeces..it is well known for health benefits. So, last year my ex-
housemate went to Suzhou, China and bought herself the pillow.
It is really effective for her morning sinus...she sleep very well
ever since..Amazing, isn't it?

Yes, I have seen Memoirs of a Geisha. I do recall the hard pillow Zhang Ziyi slept on. So sleeping on hard surfaces is not new and have been practiced for centuries.These days we are just pampered and need all kinds of bedding and accompaniments just to sleep.If we are really tired, we will sleep anywhere.Do you believe that American hobos actually sleep in grave yards?

I too noticed that hotel's pillows are extremely soft.
They should do survey on each of the hotel guests to
see what their preference..soft, medium or hard pillow.

Thanks for the information on Carnival Cruise lines. Even if a single journey takes an average of ten days, at least a million people travel in Carnival Cruises every year.

Have you ever travel on any Carnival Cruise Lines, or ever
thought of traveling on it in the future? I was always thinking
of travelling one like the Royal Caribbean Cruise...I heard it
was like a floating hotel, with swimming pool, gym, international
cuisine, cinemas etc..I DO HOPE THEY GOT COMFORTABLE PILLOW THAT
SUITS ME

I have never travelled on the Carnival Cruise lines, and in the future also, I may be not able to travel in them. For the simple reason, I cannot afford to take such a luxury cruise with my income.

It is true, especially we are just an employee...
myself will be worse, I am just a housewife with
BIG DREAMS!

Many things we could never imagine will become reality,
but at times, through God Blessings, it did come to pass.
My son and I always dream of visiting the largest Disneyland
in the world..it is very far from our home, it is very expensive too!

Little did we know, God has planned for us..2 years ago we won
air tickets for 2 plus accomodation to New York, thus we entend
our stay and flew to Orlando and visit the Disney World - where
dreams do come true!

I truly hope one day you will enjoy too, and I too hope I can travel
in those luxury cruise around the world...lol

Some of the myLotters here, prefer to sleep without pillow
just like you..

I just wonder why can't people have 'tailor made' pillow
to suits one preference..I noticed it is not easy to find
one 'pefect pillow'..at times we have to sleep on two and
do some adjustment...sigh-

See the bright side, you save money, no need to buy pillow,
thus no need to buy pillow case...and no need to wash it too

*hugs*...I am just like you, I like to sleep having 2 pillows
under my head. I keep a slightly harder pillow below and a soft
one at the top. That suites me well too, and I noticed quite a
number of myLotters here did the same...

I truly agree with you that there are soft pillow that are too soft
which you can hardly move, and those hard ones that really
uncomfortable. So, you ended up with 'not too soft' pillow and found
one that suits you

Some pillow trivia for fun:

In eighteenth-century England, women's wigs were sometimes 4 feet high.
These remarkable head- dresses were dusted with flour and decorated with
stuffed birds, replicas of gardens, plates of fruit, or even model ships. Sometimes the wigs were so elaborate they were worn continuously for
several months. They were matted with lard to keep them from coming apart,
which made mice and insects a constant problem. Special pillows had to be constructed to hold these giant creations, and rat-resistant caps made of
wire were common. The wig craze died out quite suddenly in 1795, when a hair-powder tax made their upkeep too expensive.
