Eco friendly ? | | | | Here in the States we fill up landfills by the minute. A lot of stuff ends up in the trash just because people get tired of it and believe they no longer have use for it and then end up having to buy it again. If you have the option to purchase something which is labeled made of recycled materials versus something without the label assuming both items are the same price, which one would you purchase? Would you purchase clothing, jewelry, furniture, dishes, art work etc with the label made of recycled materials. Would you have seconds thoughts on purchasing a car which is labeled made of recycled materials. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | It drives me nuts to see perfectly reusable items thrown in the trash. Especially when they are not biodegradable. Why is it so much trouble to give the stuff away to someone else or donate it? | | | | | | | | ellaprice76 (96)

| | True, as they say someones trash, someones treasure. Does this mean you prefer / purchase and items which the label made out of recycled items instead of one without. | | | | Canellita (4243)

| | It depends on the item. I saw a great feature in the new issue of family fun magazine that turns gallon water jugs into food storage containers. Another project turned cereal boxes into magazine organizers. These are also projects that are great to do with children. | | | | | | | Window Treatment Sale $150 Off Any Window Treatment! | | If the price is the same I would always pick the one that is eco-friendly, the problem is that the price is rarely the same. Many products that are labeled eco-friendly are not as friendly as they advertise... a t-shirt made from recycled materials and then shipped from brazil to california is still causing a lot of pollution for the environment. I try to buy things that are eco-friendly and when I can't find that, I try to buy things that were made close to home. I also do not throw out perfectly good items, I give my old stuff to Good Will if no one else I know wants it. I would buy a car made of recycled items in a heartbeat if it was a good car! Good question! | | | | | | | | ellaprice76 (96)

| | When I posted the question I didn't even think about the pollution that is created in the shipment of items. I guess I should go an stand in front of Walmarkt and asked everyone if they are eco-friendly since Walmarkt gets everything as far as I know from China. I guess they have to get everything from China now since all the American companies who worked if them were driven to bankruptcy by Walmarkt. | | | | | | | Modern Window Treatments Unmatched Quality + Selection. | | I purchase things made from recycled materials. When I buy eggs I get the carton that is made this way, and not the foam kind. When the eggs are gone I start my vegetable plants in them, as they eventually fall apart and become part of the soil. No Trash. There is alot of plastic though and I mentioned this before. When you buy something, like a toy or something that's packaged in those plastic containers. The kind you have to use a saw to open. Once you take everything out you just see how much more package there is compared to what it was holding. Why so much, it could have been packaged in a something smaller, and it could have been packaged in cardboard. Now I know they do it for security reasons and cardboard would be easier for someone to open the it and steal the item, but then why not lock it in one of those secuirty cases they have? So much waste just piling up and there's really no need. | | | | | | | | ellaprice76 (96)

| | Good answer. Last year I picked up some starter materials from Lowes to start my flowers. I have already bought all of them when I realized I can simply used egg cartons. If you look around and watch people many not so much were you are but in the city it looks like people create so much waste because it is easier. Just starting with the plastic bags in grocery stores. You seldom see a person who walks into the grocery story with their own bag. | | | | | | | Window Covering Blinds, Shades, & Shutters shadeandshutterexpo.hdwfg.com | add comment | | | |
