What is the best camera make to use in professional photography...

I have a friend from Romania who shared about some of his ideas about camera. He loves taking pictures of himself or nature and he said Nikon D60 is one the greates camera he used. Its really clear and has a good quality of picture.

A friend of mine has just started a professional photography side business. She shoots with a Canon Digital Rebel XSi. I am just an amateur photographer and I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT. Between the pictures taken with her camera and with mine, there is not a lot of difference that I can see between them. Most of the professional photographers in our area use Canon cameras, in fact it is very rare to see someone shoot with a Nikkon.
From what I understand, the megapixels of a camera doesn't really make a difference after it is above 8 megapixels. The only difference between the different cameras would be the ability to adjust ISO, aperture, etc.

well, im using D60 and still new in photographic world. for me,to chose a camera model, you must take a few factor into your consideration.
1st of course your budget
2nd your purpose of having those DLSR.
last but not least, DSLR camera is a big man toy. it is an expensive stuff though. think wisely before buying:)

Hi Tyra! This is a classic question in photography forums and there is no right or wrong answers. In fact, all brands have their own strengths and weaknesses. As a rule of thumb you buy the best that you can afford. If you are just new to photography but very serious about it, then I would recommend to start at the entry level. In your case (since you're more inclined to Nikon), go for the d40. If that's no longer available, go to the next model. Though it is just an entry level camera, the features are way advanced compared to most professional cameras in the film days. By the time you have outgrown it, you'll definitely know what you want on your next upgrade. Also, invest on camera lens as this is really the one that give you great photos. DSLR bodies just come and go. There's always a new model every year with new features to drool about (it's a never ending cycle), while a good lens will last a lifetime.

I guess, the upcoming Sony Alpha 500 might be a good choice as well. It's a step up from it's previous model, A200, A300, and A350. Indeed, it's really cheap in it's class. It's 12.3 megapixel and equipped with Sony's new Exmor CMOS sensor. It has several improvement from the previous model.
