An Atheist president?  | |  Many people are talking about Obama's record as the first ever dark-skinned president of the united states, but I was wondering. What about an atheist president?
I've met quite a few atheists, and though they do not base their lives on the teachings of famous religious figures, they're all pretty nice, really (:
Having an Atheist President may also help improve America's stance on remaining a land free for all.

The perception of America in foreign countries (such as where I live, for example) may have been not as great as it should have been due to the President's own religious beliefs.
I appreciate that religion should be seperated from politics, but still, people talk, and when tongues get a-wagging, people stop thinking. This was especially eminent when Bush decided to help Israel in its ongoing war against its Islamic neighbours, also due to the existence of America's large influencial Jewish community.
I'm not saying that these ARE actual factors in shaping the president's decisions, but I'm saying that people may perceive these to be factors. Capiche? (: | |

I would like to see an atheist in the White House, but I wouldn't vote for them just because they're an atheist. Being an atheist would just be a plus.
