Stats taken from Sally Pipes’s new book: 'The Top Ten Myths of American Health Care: A Citizen’s Guide.'
46 million people in the United States do not have health insurance!
Sounds like a crisis to me!
28 million of those make $50k - $75k and choose not to buy insurance.
Ok...maybe not so big of a crisis afterall.
14 million of those are eligible for existing government programs.
So get them signed up?
That leaves 4 million uninsured Americans.
Reduce the eligibiliy requirements for existing programs and the problems solved!
NOW YOU TELL ME WHY CAN'T CONGRESS AND OBAMA FIGURE THAT OUT?
Maybe they'd like it better if they can control us from cradle to grave and turn this country into a socialist wasteland....ya think?

Actually, that is the agenda.
Do you remember Hillarycare? One of the slogans was "Cradle to Grave".
There is not much difference between the two, and it is all a part of the agenda to take complete government control of everyone.
These people are all Statists, who think that they are better equipped to take care of us than we are able to take care of ourselves.
This is all about controlling the populace.

The Clintons are Statists, as are most liberals.
When she refers to a village, she is talking about a nanny state. She considers the Government to be mother and father, and everyone to be members of the government village.
She is talking about a Socialist society, where all of the needs are met by the rest of the villagers.

And of course I do not support that belief. No matter how compassionate it may present itself....the government has no place in my private life.

You know, you're right...she did say that.
And she also said it takes a village to raise a child...I don't want to sound uneducated or anything....but what does that really mean?
I know to me..my worldview it means extended family. It means the elders of the community, it means my neighbors, churches, schools...etc.
But I am sure that Hilary didn't necessarily mean JUST that.

"28 million of those make $50k - $75k and choose not to buy insurance" this conclusion was made by who? I do not see the average family size but I will take a guess that it is around the size of a family of 4. Depending on where you live in the United States that may seem like a lot of money but by the time you are done with fed,state, social security and any other taxes if I am making 50 grand a year that means I am taking home 40-42 grand.
rent/mortgage 1000 =12000.00
healthcare = 800.00=9600.00
electric = 100.00 =1200.00
gas = 50.00= 600.00
car = 150.00 =1800.00
car gas =160.00 = 1920.00
car insurance = 700.00
heating =800.00
copays and meds = 720.00
car upkeep/repairs = 300.00
household = 600.00
food = 600.00 = 7200.00
dental insurance =75.00=800.00
water/trash =700.00
loan for childs college = 130.00=1570.00
Total is 40,510.00
If all of the United States had the same rents and paying jobs and all got health insurance through employers then sure I could survive very nicely on the money I am now getting. I had a work injury cutting my pay in half lost my insurance which was 300 a month and that included my dental. I was lucky to get a plan for 800.00 a month cobra wanted me to pay 1300.00. I dont qualify for programs because we make over 35000.00 for a family of four. Lets see will they drop that threshold? I dont think so to many people would qualify and throw the whole system into a nightmare. Did you see anything frivolous in what my budget is? I am lucky if I have money to buy a new pair of panties or if my 9 year old will need braces!!!God forbid if my husband missed a week of work because he was sick or had an accident that would put us in the hole big time. Sometimes which seems to be so easy really isnt. Once someone here on mylot said to me well move to somewhere that is cheaper does everyone realize that if we all just got up and moved to where it is cheaper that it would no long be cheaper the cost of housing and everything around you would go up?
All those programs you are talking about well like medicare and medicaid give me a break they are living off a cost of living from the 70's. They go by your gross income and they dont care if you are a dollar over you just dont qualify.
All I am trying to say is that we can not just make the assumption that people just decide not to have healthcare, if it was more affordable more people would have it.
Repubs are saying that Obama is shoving it down their throats without reading it, well republicans are against it without reading it. So is a battle of the dems and repubs. Americans need something that they can afford.
I have been in need for back surgery for over a 6 months fighting with my employers private insurance company ( workers comp) 6 doctors say I need it but one of their docs said I dont. So this is their fight. I looked up online what the insurance company netted last quarter 70 million dollars. They deny services needed and most end up on disability because of their procastinating people end up permanently damaged and disabled. Please tell me you think this is okay? It is all about greed. I just want to get better and get back to work is there something wrong with that?

I've been there many time, family of five, earning less than thirty thousand....didn't qualify for anything.
It's not gonna help to just expand the social programs, since the state gov'ts are buckling under the costs of these programs. Just like the employers are finding it harder and harder to find affordable insurance for the employees.
And, we have done that before, remember, not long ago, we increase the schip coverage....
all that will happen is that the insurance companies will get a big windfall from the gov't, much of which, they will pass on to their upper management in the form of salary hikes and bonuses, and then, well, just to make sure there is plenty of needy out there for the gov't to respond to again, they will increase the cost for the consumers!
I think if we didn't have all these aide programs out there, there's a good chance that many of us who are going without healthcare would have more money in our pockets. I also think that the cost of the healthcare wouldn't have been so inflated, so these people would have their healthcare. So in effect, what they have done is took that healthcare from some of the population and redistributed it to another group.....one that they felt were more "worthy" to have, namely, single mothers and children, the elderly, the disabled.
Can anyone show me in the constitution where it gives the gov't the power to decide who should recieve the healthcare, who shouldn't, and then proceed to take it from those they deem less deserving so they can give it to their pets? I don't think it does.
To solve the problem, they need to either make an honest attempt to cover all those who need the help, and I mean an HONEST attempt, have seen that yet!! Or just drop the handouts, let fate and economics decide who gets it who doesn't. But, it does not good as it is when it seems to be turning functional productive people (read taxpayers)....into not so functional "disabled" people (read "pets")! Fuctional two parent families (read taxpapayers!!!), into one parent families....(read "pets")...
it is and has been redesigning our society in a bad way!

Why can't Obama and Congress figure that out... Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuelle said it plain as day...
You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
Even if the "crisis" is manufactured.
