Some people have had to bear intense adversity early in life.
e.g. victims of crime and or domestic violence

There seems to be a consequent negative force that prevents full growth, specially psychologically.

Perhaps one of the best things we can tell another is that "the past adversity could really be necessary in order to grow fully."

This was suggested by Dr Wayne Dyer. I think it makes a lot of sense to believe in something that would remove the barriers to improvement.
