Do you drink energy drinks?  |

Years ago I gave up coffee and after a year of going without, I gave it a try when I was really tired one morning. Yuck! What did I ever see in it?
So on mornings I felt really groggy I used to go pick up a can of (sugar-Free) energy drink like Red Bull, Rockstar or Monster and it was enough to get me picked up and into a groove that generally lasted all day.
I cut them out of my diet about 8 months ago, but still use them periodically when I'm feeling really tired, unfocused and disinterested. Like today!
How about you? What is your favorite?

2. pushkin69 (259) | 4 months ago | hey there. I unfortunately drink a lot of coffee and am trying to cut down. I really cant operate effectively without two cups in the morning, I even get headaches if I dont have it.
I do sometimes drink redbull to pick me up if I am especially tired but find it is too sweet for my taste. Even better to mix it with a little vodka. hahaha

I used to be pretty dependant on coffee, too. I found when I gave it up, the caffeine headaches lasted less than 2 weeks and then there were literally no cravings anymore. I wish quitting smoking was that easy!

pushkin69 (259) | 4 months ago | Hey there. Maybe I should try giving up a little harder. Invest in some paracetamol and wait for the cravings to stop!!! Funny as I used to smoke and gave that up really easily. I smoked for about 6 years and just decided one day to give it up and never craved it. Wierd hey!!

breepeace (2278) | 4 months ago | Have you ever tried switching to decaf? My friend was a huge coffee addict, but was developing problems with her sleeping patterns, so she switched to decaf for a few weeks and then eventually just gave it up altogether. It might be worth a try.
I wish it were that easy for me to quit smoking. Every morning I wake up and think I just won't have a cigarette today, and even if I don't have one before I go to work, by the time my first coffee break rolls around I am poised and out of my chair before my coworker can even suggest we go for a smoke. Mind you, I've been a smoker for over 11 years now, too. I quit for 7 months last year, and I will say that starting smoking again is a heckuva lot easier than quitting smoking.:(

pushkin69 (259) | 4 months ago | I do need to stop and maybe the decaff way will be less of a shock to the system. Try and con my body into thinking its getting its caffine hit!!! I didnt think I had an addictive personality as never had an addiction but thinking about it I am def addicted to coffee!! Oopps. Smoking too is def something you need to give up. Have you tried the patches? Not sure how good they are. Sounds as though you associate it with certain times of the day so need to substitute ciggie breaks with something else. I wish you luck!!

breepeace (2278) | 4 months ago | I tried the patch a few weeks ago with zero success. All it did was make me itchy, which made me want a cigarette more.*LOL*
I'm waiting on getting my prescriptions covered by my employer so I can try out one of the smoking cessation drugs.

Certainly didn't give me energy! lol So no, I don't really drink them. I have an aunt who drinks these things and doesn't eat! She's crazy. She's lost so much weight but now looks so unhealthy because all she does is drinks these drinks. I don't see a problem in people drinking them when they need a pick me up, but geesh - as meals? that's so unhealthy!

5. UK_Shree (1843) | 4 months ago | I only drink coffee when I am really really tired! I don't actually like the flavour of coffee very much to be honest, and my morning drink is usually tea. I prefer the flavour of tea but it doesn't quite have the same kick as coffee does when I need one! I have noticed though that the more coffee I do drink, the more I like the flavour. I suppose it must be an acquired taste.

I remember I tried lipovitan and red bull but it seems like normal. I don't know because my impression is that you will regain your strength and be active but to me it is just a sweet drink or something.

He runs back and forth to the store all weekend long to pick them up when he runs out! And I think that Red Bull has the most discusting smell ever! I can smell it when I am in the kitchen and he is in the bedroom drinking it! I know when he pops the top even if I don't hear it! I wish he would stop drinking it! He's 45 and I'm afraid he's going to have a heart attach from it!

8. bigplay (137) | 4 months ago | I drink them whenever i go over my sister's house and if she has some, in fact before i had a couple of drinks there, my hands were shaking for over a week, then i drunk a few energy drinks that day and the next day my hands stop shaking. I guess it was low blood sugar.

9. jziakhan (389) | 4 months ago | well, i dont need coffe or energy dirnks, i only drink instant energy drinks which i can prepare myself, because i cannot go relying on red bull and other drinks, i have a pretty good reson too, red bull has side effects, that is why you should not drink any either, it consists of herbs such as ginseng, gingko, biloba and echinacea, which are considered healthy for you, but if you take a medication ithout the redbull energy drink having completly been absorbed by the body, it can cause side-effects, becuase of the herbs reacting with the medication, it is proved harmfull, and dangerous, thats why most people in my country dont drink it now, there has been a health scare too that if you drink too much red bull energy drinks and not enough food to balance it then it might cause harnfull efeects, becuase the liver cannot work properly then, i hope you take notice of my message, and dont worry, you can drink it without taking a medicine for 4 hours and eat enough food to balance it all out,

I wanna say that energy drinks might bring energy to us but they take side-effects to us at the same time, and it would be a better chioce not to drink that quite often.
