I had to buy a new All-In-One

Well, it finally bit the dust - my color printer/fax/copier/scanner. For a while now, I've been meaning to get it cleaned because the black wasn't printing properly. Then this past week, I was trying to scan or print and it wasn't working. I did finally get it to print - although not correctly because of the ink issue - but not scan. I really need the scanner part more than the printer part because I have to scan a lot of stuff for the tax returns I do at home (yes, I'm still doing taxes for people this late in the year...). After messing with it for 3 days, I decided that since it was 3 1/2 years old, and I had only paid $126 for it, that I had gotten my money's worth out of it and it was time to get a new one!
I first went to Office Depot because I always go there first. It was a good thing that the one I decided on (the Epson Artisan 800) was out of stock because when I went to Best Buy I remembered that I have a $30 rebate coupon from them! Of course I didn't have it with me, but I have up to 30 days to bring it back to the store and get the credit for it on this purchase!
I got it home - and after what seemed like a couple hours - had it set up and running. I was able to scan in some documents that I should have e-mailed someone on Thursday and this morning I can finish scanning in some tax information for some of my clients.
WOOHOO!!! I'm back in business!!!!
Now I just have to set the fax part up and it's totally ready to go - I think... I do like it much better than my old one (Brother MFC 5440CN). And I hope it lasts a long time too!

I've had an HP All in One for two years now and I hope it doesn't quit on me any time soon because I like it. I hate to have to buy new ones and set them up and install all the software. I don't use mine as much as you use yours, probably, so it should last awhile longer.

I mostly use the scanner/fax options, but I like printing in color. The main reason I got the Epson over the HP is that the Epson has more color ranges - 5 color cartridges instead of 3. Other than that, the HP had one feature that I liked better... So far I'm very happy with my choice! Although it did take a couple hours to install...

Working on a Saturday? I guess you are like me and glad to have some work, even if it does eat into the free time you want to have. It sounds like a really good deal with your thirty dollar rebate certificate. Happy scanning, I guess.

Actually, the coupon was for $95!!! WOOHOO!! So my $199 printer was only $104 :)
I work a lot at night and on weekends for my "side" tax jobs. It's not hard work, and I really like it!

Yes, printers don't last very long and besides newer and better models appear on the market every so often. I have changed about 5 printers in the last 8 years. My latest printer is a Brother 4 in 1 and I love it. It only cost me $55. My first one was Epson and it cost me $300 ! Just a printer, no such thing as a 3 in 1 printer. What a difference in price!

My Brother was nothing but problems, and my mother LOVES Epson so that was one reason to get it. So far - only a couple days - I love it!
I do have a laser that's at least 4 years old and it's got plenty of life left in it!
