People and snowflakes....

Scientists say that each snowflake is unique...no two the same, and this has also been said of people. Do you believe there are no two people exactly the same, even identical twins? Why or why not? Perhaps our DNA and fingerprints would help make us unique, but what of other things? Karen

I do believe that no 2 people can be alike even if they are identical twins. Apart from DNA and fingerprints, the situations we are in play an important role in developing our personality. The surroundings, for example. So let us consider 2 identical twins, which is as similar as 2 people can be).. Even Identical twins do not respond the same way to situation simply because they have had slightly different experiences in life, like, say one went to a summer camp that other did not. We have no way to make sure how that one particular summer can alter the perception and make the 2 seemingly identical twins a bit more different. In the same way every experience that the twins will not share together will supposedly help them make an identity which is somewhat more different than that of the other twin. There are way too many variable that matter and so I think there is a close to none possibility of finding 2 people exactly alike.

Hello Xzess. You make a good point. Even with identical twins, their minds, thinking, inner feelings, and how they perceive even the same experience do differ. We had two sets of identical twins in high school, and we could always tell them apart, simply by their different postures, for instance, or the unique facial expressions they often wore. Thank you for your perspective! You make good sense. Karen

I try to make good sense .. i fail miserably sometimes when i over-analyze something and end up getting too technical which confuses the other person and myself at the same times, but then again we do not have to discuss that

Hello Peace. Our uniqueness, given how many people have existed throughout time, I find to be a completely amazing thing! It is rather wonderful, though, to know that we are each "one of a kind," no two exactly the same. How special we are, then. Thank you for responding and for your opinions on this :) Karen

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji, I am very much firm opinion that by nature nothing is same, everything is different from other. See the varities nature produced, human-beings, animals, plants, sea-plants, creepers, raptiles and so on. When you go into one, say human-beings, all are different cast/color/creed, their liking and disliking varies. Even when we compare, twins, they may be identical in many ways, but their birth time would differ and which will be responsible for the difference. It is by nature. May God bless You and have a great time.

Hello Iriene. You've pointed out some good examples of how we are each unique in many ways, even though humans (and animals) share common traits. The truth of our uniqueness, I find astounding in a world of some many many people and things. Thank you for your examples Karen

Hello my wonderful friend As far as twins are concerned there may be a possibility but to us average folks I don't think so, I always say I want to meet someone like me, everytime I think I come close they say something that makes me say oh no, not that this is a good reason to say no considering I don't know many people lol but in my heart I don't feel there are any two people that are alike not exactly that is. with the exception of twins not really sure how alike they are but I heard they are really close I can't say for sure don't know many, only 1 or 2 sets and thats from a distance Great question my friend smoochess

Hello Kitty. Perhaps the fact that we never do meet anyone exactly like us is good evidence that we are all unique, even when very similar. Among my siblings, though they aren't "identical" there are two sets of twins...each very different. I knew a set of identical twins in high school, and even they had their own unique personalities, facial expressions, etc. So, I guess it's true: God really does break the mold lol. Hugs, Karen

Hello Rajupaul. Any time snow falls from the sky and piles up onto the ground or on a mountain, those piles and layers of snow are made of tiny and single snowflakes. Science has shown that no two of those individual flakes of snow are ever the same. Each one is unique in its design. I hope that answers your question. Karen

You say very right, 120 years before there two identical fingerprints. This probability is very low. Based on the characteristics of fingerprints and non-reproducibility, each fingerprint is independent existence, is unique. Fingerprint the same rate things could happen. Are all the people can not understand. Monozygotic twins are not identical fingerprints.

Hello Wangjihong. How interesting that there was, 120 years ago, a case of identical finger prints! I find it amazing that we, as people, are all made of the same basic parts, and yet no two, even with identical twins, are exactly the same. And there are now billions of people in the world. Amazing that in light of that, we are each truly unique. Thank you for responding with your insights. Karen
