did your girlfriend's father run a criminal check on you?

Some fathers are way too protective of their daughters, because they worry about their daughters might fall into hands of criminals, who knows? So, if you are a girl, would you father run a criminal check on the boy you are dating? Or if you are a boy, would you mind your girlfriend's parents run a criminal and background check on you? Not necessarily to hire a detective; there were many information you can dig out from the internet, it is all in public records?

This is not a new thing. Families of privilege have been doing it for as long as it has been possible to gather information on someone. In this day and age you can't be too careful. I wouldn't be surprised if he had run a credit check as well.

so it is accepted? I don't know about it, but it is like my own privacy, and I won't like people to do it. I would like to run a credit check on her parents too, if I can be more respectful.

Not only is it accepted in some situations it can be expected.
