Are all moms great cooks? |
|
My mum was a master of many things. She used to keep the house squeaky clean and always arrange and place the things in their proper places. She was always neat and well read too. She can sew beautiful dresses and her embroidery works are excellent. She used to make great sweaters and I used to wear her sweaters and mufflers with great pride when I was young. She was a great mother and I miss her still.
But she cannot cook at all? It was a joint family and my aunt makes the food and she was a great cook. Right now my wife is easily the best cook in the world. When I go through the discussions here about mom's food I always wonder my mother alone was a bad cook? Is it necessary that all the mothers should great cooks? How about your mother please?

My husband does all the cooking in our household, because not only is he extremely good at it, he also really loves to cook.

Mum's cooking is out of the world especially when she starts baking, her coconut cakes are to die for, literally! But she never passed her cooking skills onto me, because I hate cooking, can't cook, won't cook LOL! She was always there for me as a child and was my best friend, she was the one who took me on holidays, looked after me and protected me from the world, supported me, guided me and accepted me for who I was. You only get one mum in this lifetime and they should be cherished and loved unconditionally. And on a Sunday, well one of the finest roast dinners you could ever dream of!

From that aspect yes she was a very good cook. The thing though is i regret not having praised her enough for this, for today what i can't seem to get is the simple home made food that i found it so easy to eat without making any qualms about anything.

I dated a guy whose Mother couldn't cook. I had him over for Thanksgiving and he had a tear in his eye. I asked what was wrong, "He said everything was perfict. " "So why the tear?" "It's not thanksgiving like my Mom cooked it, no lumpy gravy, rubber turkey, my Mom isn't a great cook, but she's my Mom and I miss my brothers and sisters, too." So we had to have Thanksgiving at his Mom's too. He was right, she wasn't a great cook, but she was one heck of a person!
