do you respond to older discussions... |
|
...or stick with new ones. to be honest i've been mainly responding to fresh ones but i suspect there are a lot of interesting older ones. i'm considering starting to remember to look at the list of similar discussions that comes up when you respond, and even, maybe, going to friends' profiles and looking through their lists of discussions they've started. if i have time.

1. youngpatrol (289) | 3 months ago | Yes, in fact the oldest discussion that I have ever replied to was 3 year's old. I see no reason why we shouldn't respond to an older discussion. Some of the interest's that I like don't have any new replies, but where I was interested I replied any way's.

mysdianait (11835) | 3 months ago | Old discussions appear on the right>>>>> if they have recent activity or you can find them in your friends' profiles under 'started discussions' on the very first pages ofthe profiles of those who joined a long time ago.

jb78000 (1628) | 3 months ago | i've seen that, and the possibility of trawling through a user's old discussions. was just wondering where, if anywhere, old discussions without much recent activity might be found?

jb78000 (1628) | 3 months ago | speaking personally, i'd enjoy old discussions being continued. i'm sure you could add something when you have an opinion even when the br has been chosen - some people do them very quickly.

4. sunny68 (701) | 3 months ago | i move in sequence and respond to what catches my attention. dates do not really matter. but yes time is a factor and also how many interesting discussions are there. i other words it depends how much time it takes me to move down the sequence.

5. astonysh (1824) | 3 months ago | There are times that I follow a lead from a discussion which brings me out to another discussion that is several months old.
I am once in a while tempted to regenerate the conversation if the owner of the discussion is a name that is familiar to me - otherwise I tend to leave them.
There were some that I have seen that looked interesting, but were three years old and had not had any input since - in a way the opening for starting a discussion on the same theme?
The one other thing that struck me was following discussions on politics - were the discussions two years ago coming from the other flank and shooting the same sort of hyperbole at Bush that they are now shooting at Obama? Maybe some of those need reviving. Though maybe not, it is the hyperbole that needs toning down and the bias that needs to be measured and rationalised.

jb78000 (1628) | 3 months ago | i think if i saw an old discussion that looked interesting i'd check the profile of the person who started it to see if they were still active. some people have been active here for years. good luck with toning down the hyberbole, and indeed finding rational arguments in the politics bit (except of course from me)
