Just another Scam story to share here.

My mom and I know how to handle these text scammers. Since almost all of my relatives live abroad and those who are in the Philippines are much well off than we are, it would be impossible for them to ask us for prepaid loads. We would start by, really? What happened? Okay we will send you the load, just wait for it. Then of course we would never send the load. If the scammer will text back, we will reply back by saying that we have loaded the number with credits, must be a problem with the service. LOL.

I did receive another uncanny scam that deals with cellphone prepaid loads. I received a text message informing me that I received P20 worth of credits. I thought the load was sent by a friend that I was texting that time and I told him that I might not be able to reply back since my credits was already running low. But I could not use it, when I inquired about my load balance it was at zero still. So I assumed that it may be a problem with the service provider and bought credits so that I could talk to my friend.

The next day I received a text message asking me to return the P20 that was loaded by mistake. I said, duh. I was not even able to use the "load". The texter introduced himself as a policeman (as if I would be intimidated). I ignored the messages until this person stopped sending text messages.

oh my!!! why would they do such things?
i hate it.

and yes i have received such scam messages but never did i give another thought about it. i know scam messages when i received one and which annoys me more is that when my parents received such messages because they just happened to go along with it. but thankfully i always reminded them of what and how it is going to be such a nuissance. so when they did received messages that they dont know much about of, they always give me a call or when i am home they will let me read about it. and glad that nothing bad had happened to us about it either.

this world has been a total technology chaos! and many people are doing it for their own benefit!!! such a shame.

Scams like those are so out there... i receive texts like that on a regular basis... and i actually sent a pasaload worth 3 pesos... just to annoy the scammer... he/she was asking for 300 php worth of load... we exchanges text for a few minutes then i gave in and sent 3 php...

I pity those who fall for such scams... but we all need to be cautious and a little less trusting...

I have also received scam messages that want to get some free load or some money from me. It might be different from what you experienced but those scammers have at least similar modus operandi. Some have asked me to send them a load because they are in an emergency situation but i don't know these people. Another one who called himself a lawyer asked me to deposit a sum of money to claim my won money in a lottery that I have never participated. When these things happen, I just delete them without any second thoughts...

I haven't heard of this one but I have received one just this last week. I had gotten an email that stated that a relative of mine had died and they was looking for the relative to send their inhertiance to. I didn't know this person that spoke of and it seemed real funny to me. I live in KY in the US and this person was from Germany. I know that my maiden name orginated from Germany and I think that is where this came from. I didn't bite.. Have a great day yourself.

I definitely will not entertain such kinds of messages. I think it is but normal not to talk to strangers. And I will never, ever reveal to anyone my PIN, as that is the most, the toppest secret of my life.

So this scammer really had gont through miles.

I personally known someone who's been a victim.Early this 2009 January,my mom's c0-worker in UK,her yahoo messenger was hacked and asked me if i know somebody who can hacked back her ym so she can change her password becoz the hacker's been using her ym for this prepaid card for business.My mom's co-worker sister had chatted with the hacker and was trying to convince her to send 5thou pesos worth of prepaid card.My mom's c0-worker's sister called her sister in UK and asked about the matter becoz she's being puzzled the way her sister chats(not knowing it is a hacker)the good thing is,she was able to talked and asked her sister,so the hacker didn't get any cents.And my mom was able to give warnings to all their friends and other kababayan.

I haven't heared any news about this hacker if he/she has been caught or was he/she still doing scam here on the net.
We should make a wide campaign for this...and thanks for reminding me about this my friend..

That's good information there. These hackers are no good and prefer to earn cheap by stealing people's money online. but the problem is that it's hard to avoid these kind of people. I am with you one this one, they shouldn't do this to us. Cyber-crime has gone far this level....

I get these scam messeages all the time, in my e-mail box and when I am deleting e-mails these scam messages, go right in the recycling bin, right where they belong, I don't reply back to these people because that is what they want you do do, I got a e-mail from coke cola about I won some prize, I didn't even reply back to the messeage.

With the new types of phones that you can now access the internet as well as your email, messengers, and social networks, comes with it the risk of virus's, trojans, and worms. Its in inevitable, there are those out there that just develop such things to disrupt our regular routines. If you have a computer or any type of equipment that can connect via the internet you need to realize all are vulnerable to these things.

Everyone who purchases or is given such devices needs to do a quick to learn how to protect our computers, devices as well as our life. Scammers have been around all through out time, we all know this, it isn't anything new. This is just another way of doing the same old thing just with new technology.

I don't trust anything unless I know the person which with a phone call or a visit can remedy the situation. If not I do not answer or provoke anymore communication.
To many out there to take the dollars I don't have now into their pockets.


Be aware of what you do... know that they are out there .. never stop believing evil exists in all walks of life.
