Lobbying Is Just Big Business Doing Business With Big Government

A couple of weeks ago a Democrat here on MyLot wrote a comment that America is controlled by big corporations. Funny because America is controlled by Democrats, huge majority in the House, super majority in the Senate, and the Presidency. So if corporations control America then corporations control the Democrat party. Big business wants big government, it is easier to do business with one centralized power than multiple powers. In America you have city governments, state governments, and federal governments. So if more power was concentrated with in one power that means only having to deal with one power. If this power can tax want ever it wants to, spend on what ever it wants to, and regulate what ever they want, then you are going to do business with that power to get the best deal possible. If you want to get money out of politics then get politics out of money. You might still not agree with my logic, so let me ask you a question, if corporations support small government then why do they not fund the Libertarian party. The Libertarian party receives the vast majority of it's operational money from individuals, and very little from corporations.

Oh I like that. Get politics out of money. I don't know too much about Libertarians, but I know they stand for freedom and constitutional rights. You can see corporations sticking their nose even into small local politics. And vs.versa. People need to pay attention to their local governments too.

I was speaking in the terms of big in the centralization terms, but local governments can be big government just as well. Still it applies. Regulation can help big business because regulations can keep competition from being created. Big business has enough money and resources to change practices to fit regulation where some small company would not have the resources. So a big business to ask a local government for more regulation to destroy any new business that could compete from starting up in that town.

GEW, but little to no regulation is just as bad. There is an ESPN radio host who likes to say that his dog is more regulated than a mortgage brokers, and in many states that is 100% true. Does that help anyone understand how we got were we are at today?

GEW, big business doesn't care about the party, they just care about profits. Don't you remember during the election when you saw the spending from major corporations shifting toward Obama? The question I ask all the time on her, and NO ONE can ever answer is where does it say in the constitution that you have the right to spend millions on electing representitives? This is NOT freedom of speech, if that was the case then Warren Buffett, and Bill Gates would have MORE freedom of speech than others. Gew, you did a good job of pointing out that big business wants centralized government, and that makes it easier for them to opporate in Washington. The problem is the only way to stop this is to take the money out of elections, and the only people that can do it are the people that are making all of the money off of the money put into elections. Look at how many people enter Washington with little money, and leave multi-millionaires. It is shocking, and it is bipartisan.
