My mom used to keep all Christmas decorations stay all year round not for the
reasons she got lazy dismantling it, like Christmas tree, Christmas light, an image
of the Epiphany, Santa Claus, ribbon wreath, bells and statue of angels. She do it
to keep the Christmas spirit all year round as she believes everyday should be
celebrated like Christmas day. But, then I protested to removes all the decoration
in the Christmas tree just keep the trees on display on the side of the wall. Then,
the other stuff is keep on display on the other corner of the room..Usually, the
Christmas lights remain uses to adorn the outside door of our homes, indoor lawn and
the gardens. This keep the place, cozy and with a good ambience.
How about you? Do you have a holidays/seasonal house decorations which you keep display in your homes all year round? Or if not all year round, how long do you keep all the decorations stay up? What are your reasons in keeping it?

Looks like my mom is the same as your mom huh?? lol =D Instead of christmas deco, we are having chinese new year deco as that's the only festival, our family celebrates.. hehe ^_^
Every year without fail, she will be leaving those decos on, without dismantling them, til the next following chinese new year, before changing new ones, to represent a new year.. lol =D
However, i dun find them nice, and it's a little too bright for my simple house, when the occasion is already over.. hehe

My mom too is like that is way I always end up cleaning all the display decorations all year round when some dust are trap on which are annoying. Then, just like your mom only add some new display which she bought cheaply and just renovate the old style to make it new, like recycling but with a new twist.

I think Chinese new year requires new things every year. Every time their is celebration you have a lot of superstitious beliefs and many rituals. You mother is quite a thrifty woman but in a real sense she keep those decorations all year round but manage to remove them as new year is quite approaching..

yap same with me, my mother turn the Christmas light on when their is a party and when we sat down outside to have dinner in the lawn. Then, it is a good feeling to chat with friends with some snacks and drink while looking at the night sky with a lot of stars, it add festive to the plain dinner. But, it is not a good things to keep the light on when their is no one outside the home to prevent fire when electrical wiring gets hot. Also, to minimize electric consumption we put the light off when we are out of the house.

I would love to keep decorations up all year long too but my home is just not big enough for all of that stuff. I like to decorate outside also and the weather would be too hard on them. I like to keep the spirit also so I put mine up way early and take them down later than the day of the holiday.

That is really pretty weird practices in some homes as they only like to have the same holidays theme inspired room or house paint based on the occasion. I f they like a Christmas inspired decoration, all valentines day feature, halloween or any inspired holiday season which they keep the decoration all year round without feeling monotonous. They love to see the same decorations and sometimes they remove some style. Then add new stuffs hanging all around like the door wreath, Christmas light, Christmas tree outside home and then think of new concepts of home decors recycling when they buy cheap item then later being renovate to make it appear like new..

Only Christmas light and puzzled greeting are the collection my mom stay in the house. When november comes, my father put out the christmas lights. When december comes, the puzzled greetings and some christmas lantern. When December 16 arrived, my mom arrange the christmas tree. It stay until 3 kings day arrived. When we have decoration inside the house it makes us feel the christmas spirit more. It became tradition to us Filipinos that we must have atleast a decoration in the house to feel the Christmas spirit, to welcome the season with joy. To feel young again, because christmas is now and again coming.

Yap, Christmas is on the air, again and as a Filipinos some start to decorate their houses when the ber months start. The most decorations which usually left is the Christmas lights as it serves a dual purposes lightning and decorations too when their are bulbs specially designed like flowers, bells or even like leaves with colorful or just a plain transparent bulbs would do. It makes the homes cozy, look calm and relaxed which brought smiles to every people who will visit your homes wondering with the beauty of the Christmas decorations and welcome courtesy from your family.

That's pretty nice to have a neighbor who keep the Christmas light on,it makes their places festive looking and not dull looking. A house who have no light or even have light but never keep it on, got to be lonely place to look and it's look like nobody is home.

I don't keep decorations up year round. As a matter of fact, i just sold almost all my decorations in a yard sale. I don't plan on putting up too much this year. I think just a little, and close to Christmas is enough, then afterwards, i will take them down.

Simplicity is the key to minimize home decoration and in this way we spend less in the amount of spending that goes to decorations. Then, focus more on buying the most need things rather than spending buying expensive decors.

My mom keep the few decorations on display through out the year like the statue of angels and little Christmas miniature toys, then the other stuffs is display on the other room and then display again when the holidays start and will just add new stuffs to hang to make the decorations a little different from last year style decors. In this way we spend less in buying expensive decorations and keep the other item with a few finishing touch to make it appear new, it's a sort of recycling.

I don't decorate at all.. because my cat gets it into his head that these are new play things for him!
However... I have two neighbors that keep their outdoor Christmas lights strung AND turned on until damned near April...

lol..very funny your cats is so playful and may scratch all over the places..Some people really keep the christmas lights on outside the lawn or even not remove it, maybe for being busy. And, they could recycle other decorations to avoid spending money every holidays ...

we normally keep our decoration for christmas like christmas tree and other christmas decoration since we used it every year. and its common celebration for every family unless they are not catholic. and buying new stuff every year is very expensive like the big christmas tree. we also keep and fix christmas light and we just buy new bulbs to replace those thats not working.

Yeah, recycling is the best answer then just add small stuffs which are not really expensive to change the motiff of the tree and the christmas bulb is quite cheaper than in malls... I do it too at home, and leave the Christmas decoration as it is and when the Christmas season is approaching..You could saves a lot of money by being thrifty and wise..
