My mom do not like to keep the photos of dead person, whether a relatives or a

beloved in photo album. She do not like to see their faces or keeping it makes her

feel sad, scary and annoy. While, I am the complete opposite of her, I like to take

photos of the living and the dead person. I am fond of taking pictures. I think

taking and keeping pictures of the dead is one way to preserve their memories that

once in their lifetime they are a good companion and been good to us. But, it

really feel scary keeping pictures of the dead in a funerals or in a morgue, Some

people do not like the idea of keeping pictures of the dead lying in their death

bed, morgue or in a funerals. They feel afraid of looking at the pictures imagining

the person in the person is looking at them, or their is a curse in keeping dead

pictures bring bad luck or misfortunes.

How about you? Do you keep pictures of the dead? What is the importance of keeping beloved dead photos?

I too am against keeping photographs of the dead, especially if the person was particularly near to me. I believe that if you have enough photographs of the joyful moments they were alive and happy, then there is no need to have photographs of the depressing moments they are dead and devoid of life.

Though I respectfully understand if anybody disagrees with me on this.

Some people have a morbid fear of keeping dead photos as they are wary and afraid of ghost, having them to hang around makes them sick just seeing it. Just like what you mention it is better to keep photos of the dead when they are still alive than keeping photos of them in their coffin.. happy

Hi there!

Well, I do not like taking pictures of dead people especially those who are really dear to me. I prefer to remember them the way that they were when they were still alive. I only keep one photo of a dead person which was my grandfather's but it was taken by my uncle and he just sent me a copy of it.

Hi, im just like you.
I don't like taking photos of dead people even those dear to me.

Happy posting.

It is better that way as taking pictures of the dead people makes you sad, and afraid even to see their faces in a coffin. Then, having collection of old photos where the dead person during his lifetime socializes is better option to keep and remember them that way.. happy

No, I don't takke photos during funeral of a deceased love ones. I rather remember them when they are alive. I rather have photos of them while they are in a reunion or while they are enjoying life.

myLot reputation of 82/100. neelianoscet (2036)   ranked 574 out of 19,295 in questions & answers  4 months ago

That is a good ideas keeping photos of the dead when they are still alive which remind of happiest moments with them rather than focusing on the dead faces in your family album. My mom have this habit of cutting/throwing pictures of the dead people which I totally disagree as long as the photos are kept by me. They are are still relevant as through their pictures the new generation would be able to compare their faces if they have similarities..

I think some people just like to remember the last look. Or the last time they saw them; would be the purpose of keeping photos of the dead.
Personally, i like to remember them as when they were alive. I like taking pictures too, but i usually like weather related, animal pictures, people pictures..except that you can only publish people, with their permission; I do take a lot of pictures, and is one of my favorite past times.

I have no choice as i am the one assign to take photos in every occasion that comes. taking dead person photos when they just died a seconds ago are still good as their faces look as they only sleep but after they brought in funeral parlor their faces change its color that it is really annoying to take photos of them with dull/purple colors on their faces.. happy

Im not really fan of taking photos of the dead, even my beloved once.
But i never stop my family from taking photos of them.
For me, it's just feel ackward for me, it's not im scared, just because when i am in total sadness and exhausted from crying, i don't have a mood of taking pictures.
And what i want to keep as a memories is the photos of my beloved when they were alive, happy memories not the sadness.
Happy posting.

yeah, taking dead person photos is depressing if you are very close to the dead person, but others take pictures to have the last glimpse of the dead person as it will be the last time this dead person will be seen. Then, the pictures is includes in the slides video where the family after the burial could watch it and reminisce the happy moments spend with them.. happy

I don't do that cause the death is the most terrible status of a person. Personally I want to keep in my memory the best image of the people I know, i.e at least, they must be alive.

myLot reputation of 82/100. neelianoscet (2036)   ranked 574 out of 19,295 in questions & answers  4 months ago

yeah, it is a scary things to do knowing that they already died and taking pictures of them as a souvenir would be regarded by other people as a extraordinary liking which makes other people think as disrespectful.. happy

No its not a good idea. People prefer to forget a tragic incident in life as soon as possible. By keeping a photo we keep reminding ourselves of the tragedy.. so not recommended..thx

myLot reputation of 82/100. neelianoscet (2036)   ranked 574 out of 19,295 in questions & answers  4 months ago

Yeah, it will lead to depression if the photos of the dead person is around it will make you sad every time you look at the photos My mom decides to throw other photos of the dead person like freeing her from the burden and insist to pray for the souls of the departed than keep looking on the photos.. happy

it is not scary to keep pics of the dead. i just don't like to take pics and keep it because i don't want to refresh my memory of the happy times we have been together or have known each other.

it is not saying that i want to forget him as we always include him in our prayers and during All Souls' Day.

That is very essential things to do to values dead people and not just taking photos for the purpose of recording the events which takes placed during the burial up to the funeral..prayers is like the blanket which will clothed you to keep you safe from any evil.. happy

For me as I became a Christian I am not afraid of those dead people because they cant harm us... If you have strong relation with God bad or evil would be afraid with you...

I want to have a picture of a dead person with me smiling... Have a good day! God bless....

That could be possible with the dead person photos to keep when the photos is taken when they are still alive. I think rarely people will take into considerations to take dead people photos especially if it is taken from morgue, and funerals.. happy

My husband died of cancer three years ago. At his viewing, certain family members almost came unglued because his sister took my husband's picture in his casket. Through her tears, she admitted that it felt morbid to take a picture of a dead person, but this would be the last picture she could ever take of him. That could be the reason that pictures are taken at funerals of the dearly departed. It would be the last memory to cherish.

myLot reputation of 82/100. neelianoscet (2036)   ranked 574 out of 19,295 in questions & answers  4 months ago

yeah that is true even others though it is inappropriate to take pictures of the dead person in a coffin, the reasons it was take is to have a souvenir of the last glimpse to the dead person before he get buried. Those photos will be reminder of all the people who attended her funerals and burials and will serves as a records of his life on earth with a lot of people attending it means that he is beloved by a lot of people as evidence by the number of attendees.... happy
