Do you take pictures of the dead during funeral? |
|
My mom do not like to keep the photos of dead person, whether a relatives or a
beloved in photo album. She do not like to see their faces or keeping it makes her
feel sad, scary and annoy. While, I am the complete opposite of her, I like to take
photos of the living and the dead person. I am fond of taking pictures. I think
taking and keeping pictures of the dead is one way to preserve their memories that
once in their lifetime they are a good companion and been good to us. But, it
really feel scary keeping pictures of the dead in a funerals or in a morgue, Some
people do not like the idea of keeping pictures of the dead lying in their death
bed, morgue or in a funerals. They feel afraid of looking at the pictures imagining
the person in the person is looking at them, or their is a curse in keeping dead
pictures bring bad luck or misfortunes.
How about you? Do you keep pictures of the dead? What is the importance of keeping beloved dead photos?

1. MrKennedy (320) | 4 months ago | I too am against keeping photographs of the dead, especially if the person was particularly near to me. I believe that if you have enough photographs of the joyful moments they were alive and happy, then there is no need to have photographs of the depressing moments they are dead and devoid of life.
Though I respectfully understand if anybody disagrees with me on this.

2. nanayangel (4229) | 4 months ago | Hi there!
Well, I do not like taking pictures of dead people especially those who are really dear to me. I prefer to remember them the way that they were when they were still alive. I only keep one photo of a dead person which was my grandfather's but it was taken by my uncle and he just sent me a copy of it.

neelianoscet (2036) | 4 months ago | That is a good ideas keeping photos of the dead when they are still alive which remind of happiest moments with them rather than focusing on the dead faces in your family album. My mom have this habit of cutting/throwing pictures of the dead people which I totally disagree as long as the photos are kept by me. They are are still relevant as through their pictures the new generation would be able to compare their faces if they have similarities..

4. ShirleyBillingsley (899) | 4 months ago | I think some people just like to remember the last look. Or the last time they saw them; would be the purpose of keeping photos of the dead. Personally, i like to remember them as when they were alive. I like taking pictures too, but i usually like weather related, animal pictures, people pictures..except that you can only publish people, with their permission; I do take a lot of pictures, and is one of my favorite past times.

5. rainmark (3698) | 4 months ago | Im not really fan of taking photos of the dead, even my beloved once. But i never stop my family from taking photos of them. For me, it's just feel ackward for me, it's not im scared, just because when i am in total sadness and exhausted from crying, i don't have a mood of taking pictures. And what i want to keep as a memories is the photos of my beloved when they were alive, happy memories not the sadness. Happy posting.

6. coldmoon (910) | 4 months ago | I don't do that cause the death is the most terrible status of a person. Personally I want to keep in my memory the best image of the people I know, i.e at least, they must be alive.

8. moneymakingtoday (1719) | 4 months ago | it is not scary to keep pics of the dead. i just don't like to take pics and keep it because i don't want to refresh my memory of the happy times we have been together or have known each other.
it is not saying that i want to forget him as we always include him in our prayers and during All Souls' Day.

10. sender621 (816) | 4 months ago | My husband died of cancer three years ago. At his viewing, certain family members almost came unglued because his sister took my husband's picture in his casket. Through her tears, she admitted that it felt morbid to take a picture of a dead person, but this would be the last picture she could ever take of him. That could be the reason that pictures are taken at funerals of the dearly departed. It would be the last memory to cherish.
