So I went with my brother and dad tonight for a bike ride. I'm not really paying attention much at the beginning when they're checking all the bike stuff. Then we get going and I feel slow. I look at my speedometer and I'm having a tough time holding 15 mph. We get to a sloping parking lot that we used for laps, and then I'm still barely getting 15-17 mph on the flat parts, down to 8-9 mph on the sloping parts. I don't understand what is wrong, but I keep plowing through trying to just get some mileage in. I get done with about 8 miles when I stop for a water break, and my brother comes over laughing at me. He asks me if anything feels different. I tell him that the exercise bike sure seems like it must be at a very different height or something. And then he asks me to put my feet on the ground. And they are nearly flat! He lowered my seat!!! With the seat back where it should be, I am flying through the flat part at 23 mph and doing the slopes at at least 10 mph. Argh! My legs will probably be sore tomorrow from using all new muscles for something I'm normally at least somewhat used to. At first I was really panicking though that I wouldn't be able to do the race. Now I'm more confident again.
