Vacancy--Semi spoiler alert!

I just watched the movie Vacancy for the second time...the one that was Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale. Well, overall it's a good movie. But there is one(or 2) thing(s) I've always had an issue with. Towards the end they finally get a short call out to the police...kate tells the 911 operator that "they're trying to kill us! help help, blah blah blah" and then she has to leave the phone when the killers show up... Well first of all...only ONE cop is sent out there, which I doubt would ever happen. Unknown number of assaliants, unknown circumstances, possible victims, night time, secluded location...there is no way ONE cop would be sent out there alone to investigate. Now, forgetting that there's only one cop...he's killed(of course). So now there is a dead cop in the mix...don't you think an army of cops would show up if that cop never radio'd in or returned to the station??? Well, that doesn't happen either, in fact...it becomes morning (hours later) and kate has to kill all 3 bad guys herself, and then she has to call 911 AGAIN! And when she cries for an ambulance the 911 operator said, "well, we already sent an officer out to that location."...SO they know he went there, someone OBVIOUSLY knows he never returned...so why wasn't anyone else sent after him?? Anyone agree that these are unlikely circumstances?

You know I watched that movie a long time ago, and a lot about it bothered me (admittingly it was a fun movie, but...) I think you hit the major problems with it right on the head... dr...

To be honest, just about the same things you mentioned bugged me--just one cop sent, their were a lot of "coincidences" to, where it was just too easy for the baddies to trap the couple and cut off their communication, etc. Overall, it was a good viewing, though.

Yeah! It was a fun movie, so much action and frights! lol. What other things bothered you? I may have to watch it again to catch something else, but right now I couldn't really think of anything.

I agree too, that this is one of the circumstances that would unlikely to happen in real life. If someone calls a police, the head quarters won't just send one police man in order to save the girl. It will send a troop or a group of police men so that they will help each other in order to save the girl. It's really a weird circumstance. I don't agree with it that it will happen in reality. Well, we can't do something about it. That's what the director tells.

Yeah, a sheriff would send a ton of cops to keep each other safe, at least ONE partner if they didn't feel the call was real. Yeah I'm not going to write the director and tell them all their mistakes, lol.

When I first saw Vacancy, I was scared out of my wits. I was so scared I didn't think of the glitches that you mentioned. Yes, come to think of it. It sure doesn't make sense that the cop wasn't missed when he didn't return or report back to the station. That is an obvious glitch.
