My husband and I are expecting our first child in a few months. On his side of the family, our baby will be the fourth grandchild. The other grandchildren call his parents "Me Maw" and "Pop Pop". On my side; however, our baby will be the first grandchild. I have no idea what to teach the baby to call my parents once it is old enough. I don't really want to go with the traditional Grandma and Grandpa because I feel like my parents are too young to be called that. They are in their mid and late forties, they had me when they were young. Do you have any suggestions? What do your children call your parents?

Hello, that is how I felt when I started having children, is that my parents are too young to be called grandma and grandpa. My parents are in their early 40s and I am 25. I have 4 children total and my parents have 13 grandchildren after my sister has hers in April. In fact my one sister just had her 4th child yesterday. Anyways back to the main subject because my parents being young my children calls them Nana and Papa. This way it does not make them sound like they are old. I am not really sure of what other names there are that could be used. I hope that this helps you out. Congrats on your baby to be.

My daughter calls my mother Nannie and her other grandmother she called MawMaw. She called my daddy GrandDaddy and her other grandfather PawPaw. I always called my mother's mother Grandmother. My granddaughter started out calling me GeGe but now changed to GrandMa and I don't like it.
