I guess that sounds dark, yes... but... while I don't really enjoy the society as it is, I wouldn't quite enjoy not having anyone to talk with either even if virtually (That is to say, over the internet).
I honestly don't believe that I could be happy drifting around all alone around Earth with no objective or purpose.
