hi friends, it's very cold in here, it's raining outside.. the sky is very dark over there, i think it will rain very hard tonight, and maybe the electricity will be lost or a total black out here.. every time we experience this, we automatically use the candle.. sometimes we use the emergency light, and gas lamp as we call in here.. but after you can noticed that your nose will turn black, .. how about you?? what are you using during this times?? happy myLotting to all of you..!!

I have some decoration candles at home, which can be used for contingency as well. The other choices are mobilephone, torch, or match. Hope things won't go too bad, and the rain will be over soon.

well, since our power lines are under ground we seldom lose power, but the other day it was out for 5 minutes and we mostly just sat in the dark, but I did finally turn a flash light on and pointed it at the ceiling IF we were to lose power for a longer time and it was dark, well, we have flash lights and we could even cook on our gas range, just have to light the burners manually.

if its out only for a short while, i will use candles and bbq our food outside, if it is longer than that, we will salvage what food we can and go to my moms. she has a wood burning fire place that we could cook on and keep warm by. it wouldnt be a big deal i dont think.

My husband and I love camping, so we have everything we need for lights and cooking whenever we loss electricity. Last year we were without power for 4 days due to remnants of a hurricane that hit us. And other than no hot water, (we need to invest in a camping shower), we were great..In fact it was kind of fun, wouldn't mind if we lost it again, except for maybe only one day instead of 4..

Hi janebeth, We don't often get blackouts because of rain but at time we do when there is a gale force winds, then we use candles but its only last for a few hours, but I hate it when that happens as we can't have the tv on or use the computer. Tamara

I use candles which is more flexible to use in these cases, however I remember that before my grandmother was using sort of a cup made of earth and then she will put oil in it then something like a fuse to let it light up the whole night.

We rarely face electricity cutouts but on such occasions we use emergency lights and candles.

I grew up in the country and lost power a lot from snowstorms or rainstorms. Once in awhile you'd get the occasional car accident where someone took out a phone pole. Power would usually come on fast after accidents. Whenever a storm was coming we would fill up the bathtub with water. When the power went out we had one flush left for the toilet. We used the water from the tub to have continuous flushing. We would also buy a few gallons of bottled water. You never knew when you would get power back. We always had a fire place. This way we could still have heat. It wouldn't heat the entire house, but that one room was nice and toasty. We always had lots of flashlights, batteries, and candles.

When there's no electricity we use candles or a kerosene/gas lamp. Just need to take good care where you put them or else you'll catch a fire.

if it is rainy outside ,in my country electricity will not be there for more hours .and so previously we lit candles but now we use emergency lights. but we should charge them in house daily in rainy season. sometimes i forget to charge and so i lit candle at that time. so i will keep candles in stock also. as now i am in other country, here rains will be less and no power cuts. so i am happy with this weather here. so there is no need of candles and emergency lights here .

we also use candle, gas lamp like yours and emergency lights.and we also pray that lights will come back because it is very hard to sleep without my fan and my mini lights.some home have generators and solar so they still have the electric when it comes to black out.i do not like black out.most people will do is to sleep early because there are no other things to be done.
