This year my 5 year old is attending school for the first time.
we have always had problems with him as far as not wanting to go to his class.
we tried nursery at church and his big boy class there...doesn't matter, he screams and cries and never would stay. and at church they wont make him stay, if he cries for a couple minutes straight, they have u come get them.
Thank God school doesn't do that!! lol

so the 8th was his first day of real school.
he started kintergarted. he was so excited. he was even asking to hurry and get his shots done for school! didnt even cry!
he was excited all til we pulled up to the school then he says he doesn't want to go.
he cried but obviously he had to stay so we went on ahead and at the end of school he LOVED IT!

but the next day was the same. he loves school but he does not want to go.
he has fun when he is there and is all excited about it and says he had a GREAT day, but come time to drop him off it is so hard.
he has his father rapped around his little finger and if it were up to him he would just keep him home.
and actually he is probably the reason for this.
last year he didnt want him in school.
when it comes to sunday school he wont make him go in. he'll sit in the lobby area with him.
his father dropped him off to school today which starts at 7:45 AM. it is now a few minutes to 9AM and he still isn't back!
if it were me I'd drop him off and that would be it. my heart hurts to leave him but I KNOW he will have a great day and he is in good hands. his father I think makes it so much harder by staying and dragging it on. it really does make me mad.

I just don't know what to do about the situation.
what can I do?? he loves it but doesn't want to go??
one of his big brothers attends the same school and they even allow him to sit in class at the beginning with him to help him with this but still he just cries and doesn't want to be dropped off...

I think that this is probably just a stage that your son is going to go through. It is probably related to the fact that he really hasn't spent a lot of time seperated from the two of you.
My daughter is in first grade now, and last year when she was in Kindergarten, she didn't do this either, however, she was with a babysitter from the time she was two years old, so she wasn't severely attached to us so it was a bit easier for her to be left at school.

Hello happy It makes your heart break when you're a Mum and you see your kids like this. I am wondering if it's down to a small part of insecurity and trepidation...and I don't mean that from yourselves. He knows that he is loved and cared for at home and it is a 'safe' place for him. Even though he has fun and a great day of school maybe he wonders when it's time to be dropped off if it will be like again the next day? I'm sure that with all the good days he has he'll get less upset as he'll gain confidence that each day will be fun and that they will learn something new. Also, they have to get to know their way around and see all the different teachers, even if they do not teach him, it can be a lot for a little one to take onboard. And I think you're right about having some people wrapped around his little finger, it used to annoy me when I said No to my kids and then their dad said yes!
