Who's better - Sonic or Mario?  

I would definitely say that Mario is doing well these days! Especially because the Wii is SO incredibly popular these days. Sega maybe should come out with something like that (There's Xbox360, Nintendo Wii, PS3, but nothing that Sega has done has become quite as popular!). Maybe if they came out with a new type of console, Sonic would come back into the scene.

I like Mario much better..But that's because I grew up with Nintendo. I definitely agree with you though, Mario is more popular than ever! I finally got a Nintendo Wii and we just bought a few Mario games - and they're way fun and different, but at the same time, classic!

Mario definitely has continued to have good games over the years. Actually, though, one of my favorites is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and I am excited about the winter version coming out soon. Other than that I do not really like any Sonic games for current systems. I do like some of the Mario games, though, especially Mario Kart.

Mario has been and will always be my first love. It's one of the first games I started playing whenever I got into gaming as a kid and I loved Mario. Don't get me wrong, I played Sonic too and I definitely did enjoy Sonic but my preference is more for Mario than Sonic.

When I got back into gaming about 6 months ago, one of the first games I had to buy was the New Super Marios game. I finished that thing in a few weeks (hey I was a busy college student) and I never really had any desire to buy a Sonic game. My mom bought me a Sonic game about a month ago and I've only touched it once. It's not really my thing. I feel like the new Sonic stuff is sorely lacking all the good stuff it originally had.

i think both are different, i love both, but i would go for sonic simply because i think sonic is much better in graphics and game play, they are upgrading the game again and again but mario people are not doing anything.

big fan of Mario,from the movies to the early Mario Kart games, loved those games. To the later olympic games and varius ones the have on the Wii. Even still play Super Mario Brothers its so addictive

I think that Mario is living it up better.

Now, mind you, this is coming from someone who was an "avid" Sonic fan... well, more spiritual than material, since I couldn't really afford a Genesis and all Sonic games and so (Although I did had a Master System and at some point in time I owed Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos), nor any other merchandise, but I liked that little blue colored hedgehog quite fondly.

However, as times evolved... well, Sonic Team decided it'd be cool to add an huge cast added to the fray. I mean, Tails was OK, Knuckles was still OK, that weasel who's name I can't remember... well, ok, another antagonist how bad could that be... but then we started having Amy, Big, E-102, Shadow, the Chaotix cast. Well, the thing just got blown out of proportion right there and from there on Sega and Sonic Team tried to do way too many things.

Wipeout rip off? Sonic now turns into a Werehog (!?). What else?

Now, it was ... "half-good" when Sonic Adventure 1/2 came out because it made the plot a bit more intricate in the games, but what it cost to do that... well, was probably a bit too much.

Mario has stayed somewhat faithful to what you'd expect out of a Mario game, but Sonic, not anymore I'm afraid. The cute little hedgehog died a long ago, Sega&co. have just been dragging a corpse.

This is a really good discussion and I am sure that a lot of people have opinions when it comes to Sonic and Mario and who is better,and both characters are really awesome in their own ways,and I kind of liked Sonic back in the old Sega Genesis days and I still have one of the Sonic games,and then I liked Mario on the Nintendo 64 especially in Super Mario 64 which was totally awesome,and they are both still awesome,I am not much into Sonic anymore and find those games more tedious and boring,but I am still into Mario and find that his games are always fun and enjoyable,and I definitely want to get Mario and Sonic Olympic Games for the Wii because I think it would be fun putting them head to head against each other to see which one is the best,and which one is the worst,have a great day,good luck with your life,and all of your mylotting goals,and Happy Posting.
