What is your favorite book of all time? |
If you had to chose your favorite books which would they be? Not more than five of your favorites. What ones do you remember maybe from childhood or one you had to read for school? For me i recall Where The Red Fern Grows written by Wilson Rawls. It stands out in my mind because of the storyline ofcourse but also Mr. Rawls came to my school when i was in the fourth grade and there was an assembly. He told about writing the book and even brought his drafts that amounted to a stack of papers nearly as tall as he was. For those of you that don't know the storyline it is about a young boy who buys and trains two redbone coonhounds. It is quite an adventure. Which is your favorite?

1. lelin1123 (4088) | 3 months ago | My all time favorite would have to be Little Women by Louis May Alcott. I also loved the book collection of Nancy Drew Mystery Series.

celticeagle (4479) | 2 months ago | Such very popular ones too! My mom read Little Women to me before I was in school. And I can remember going to the library for my next Nancy Drew mystery. Such excitement to get started on her next adventure. I still have a few copies of them in my small library. That is how important they were to me. Thanks.

Favorite books? uh......too many, most of in Chinese, you know, A DREAM OF RED MANSIONS and A SURROUNDED CITY. In English, my all time favorite book would be PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen. If you ask me how many times I read it? I really don't know. I would like read it anytime and anywhere free time.

| 4. Johanna_swe (13) | 3 months ago | I have found that many of my favourite books are books that I read in my childhood. Maybe it's because you have better possibilities to hide away and completely lose yourself in a book when you are a kid. The whole reading experience just becomes magical.
One book in particular that I loved reading is The secret garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

6. JenInTN (3487) | 3 months ago | The first book I remember reading and loving is The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephan King. I got it at the school library when I was in elementary school. It's not his normal "scary" stuff at all. It's a medieval story about kings and knights.

10. think_twice (207) | 3 months ago | Detective stories of Sherlock Holmes are my all time favourites. The Hound of Baskervills, Solitary Cyclist, Seckle Band, Man with the twisted lip, A Scandal in Bohemia, The Massgrave Rituals still attracts me so much. I have read it when I was 15 still I am reading it in my 35 and will read it when I will be 50. It will never get old to me. Do you have read this books?
| |
| |
celticeagle (4479) | 3 months ago | The Hounds of The Baskervilles is a great ole classic. I had my mother reading them to me when i was 7 or 8. My mom was a veracious reader and read to me alot when I was a youngster instilling in me my love of books.
| |
think_twice (207) | 3 months ago | No no. Listening a book & reading a book have much differences. I think you must read the book to get a different experience. In my opinion you must read all other stories of Sherlock Holmes, so that you will learn how enchanting are the stories. Have you read Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple's detective stories?
| |
celticeagle (4479) | 2 months ago | No, I haven't. But I have seen several on our PBS station. I figure I will never be able to read all the ones I want to so catching afew they have made into movies can't hurt. Teehee Sherlock Holmes was always a favorite of my mothers. I am more into thrillers and historial romances.
