Washing towels

That drives me crazy too. I have the same problem with these berry colored towels I have. They transfer fuzzies onto everything else that is in the wash. These towels are also pretty thick. Are your brown ones thick too? I think I'm going to wash them in all cold water next time and see if it helps.

Hmmmmm. I also pay for laundry so I do all my towels, both hand towels and bath towels, as well as wash cloths when I have enough for a full load. I used to have that problem so I switched from powdered soap to liquid soap and I no longer have the problem. So try that! Good luck.

You might also try adding a little white vinegar to the wash.It doesn't make your clothes smell,but it takes away smells and softens.If you use a clothing softener(like downy or snuggle,etc) that might help.But still try the vinegar. I use it in every load and it seems to help.

I donot wash towels in the washing machine.I rather wash it with hands and my full power on it.I rub it again and again until I feel that yes, the strains are fully gone.I use soaps instead of washing powder on these towels.It becomes easier for me to wash these.

I would try to wash your towels with like colored clothes rather than washing all the towels together. Which is probably impossible. But if you're doing a load of darks that would be the best time to wash the brown towels. Aside from that try using cold water and don't put the brown ones in the dryer, just hang dry them.

That's weird about the towel situation. I actually do a similar thing. About a year ago, I got rid of all of our crappy, ugly old towels and bought about 20 from Target - in bright shades like bright pink, yellow, green, blue, and any other neon-bright color they sold at the time. I spent like $120 on towels..But now we're all set! And we have amazingly cute towels now. . OK, anyway - how I usually wash them is that I wash them all together, and I've never had the colors run into each other or anything like that. I usually make SURE to use a small amount of scented fabric softener (I hear using fabric softener reduces the risk of it becoming pilled - not sure if this is what you're experiencing but I've had issues with this in the past and it seems to work). I also use dryer sheets, also scented, not sure if that makes a difference. I love my towels to smell lovely, though, and feel soft. I suggest trying the fabric softener or dryer sheets if you can. It's worth a shot. If it doesn't help your problem, well, hey! At least they smell good. .

Otherwise, when I'm lazy, I'll just have the dry cleaners I work at clean & press them. But I actually prefer to do them myself (so long as I have time).

I doubt you could do it once and for all, so i guess you have to hand wash them if they does drop colors .

I would wash the dark brown towels with your dark load of laundry. It may take a few washings & drying w/ the darks to get the fuzzies off.
