Did you have your own bedroom?... |

Did you have your own bedroom while growing up?... or did you share with your siblings or other relatives?...
In my country... it is very rare for a child to have his or her own room... since most houses have only like 1 or two bedrooms... family members have to share a room and even a bed...
I remember when i was young... i shared 1 bedroom with my two sisters... when we were very young... we slept in one bed but when we got a little bigger... my parents decided to buy one single bed and a double decker bed... so we shared a room but got our own bed and that was so cool during that time... then when my uncles got married... my older sister moved in to their room... and when she got married... i inherited that... which was like heaven to me... because at last i got my own place where i can place all my things and even get new stuff for my very own room...
I am not afraid to sleep alone... in fact i preferred that because i love my privacy... how was it when you were growing up... did you have your own room?... or just your own bed?...

1. daliaj (2865) | 4 months ago | Now, I don't have a bed room for myself. I live in a hostel now and we two people - me and my room mate share the room. But, I am fine with my room mate because she is a very nice girl and she doesn't create any problem for me. She is very understandbale and adjusts to my deeds. I don't like to be alone in a room and she gives good company for me.

aseretdd (6864) | 4 months ago | I remember living with two other ladies when i was still working abroad... we divided the room into three and use closets and curtains to cover our own space... just so we can have our own privacy... it was nice but the noise they make still gets into my nerves once in a while...
Thanks for the response...

2. lelin1123 (4670) | 4 months ago | Growing up with 4 other siblings unfortuntely no. I had to share my room with my two younger sisters. We had a three level bunk bed. I hated to share with my sisters because they were slobs and I had to keep cleaning it because they were lazy and I like things clean and neat. Which has continued into my adult life.

4. happy6162 (2506) | 4 months ago | When I was growing up I shared my bedroom with my two sisters. We only had a 3 bedroom house and my parents had one and my brother got his own bedroom. We had one big bed and a small one which was my younger sister. I share with my older sister which was not bad at all.

5. dorannmwin (2440) | 4 months ago | When I was growing up, I had an even mix of both. I had my own bedroom from the time that I was born until I was about nine years old. Then my baby sister moved out of the crib and into my bedroom. We shared a room until I was seventeen years old and she was eleven years old. Then I moved into a bedroom in the newly finished basement. I loved sharing a room with my sister, but I also liked having my own space. Now that I'm grown and I've got children of my own, they each have their own bedroom. The house that we have is technically a four bedroom home but we've converted one of the bedrooms into our office space then my son has his own bedroom, my daughter has her own bedroom and my husband and I share the other bedroom.

aseretdd (6864) | 4 months ago | It must have been fun sharing a bedroom with a very young sister... my sisters and i are close in age so there are times that we can't stand each other... especially when we want to be alone and that is just impossible...

| 6. Jason_uec (47) | 4 months ago | Yes, I had my own bedroom when I started remembering my childhood. At that time my father built our house, I haven't got any brothers so I got one bedroom. My big sister and little sister shared a bedroom. I agree with your point: evenyone should have his/her own bedroom during growing up. Thank for your topic, let me review my late childhood.

aseretdd (6864) | 4 months ago | There are kids who refuse to sleep alone... so they need someone to share a bedroom with... but with those who prefer to have space and privacy... they should at least be given their own... but only if the parent could afford it...

8. cathy79430 (214) | 4 months ago | i have slept with my grandma when i was young. i used to live with the roommates since i went to the middle school. i don't know how was the feeling to have my own bedroom. but i really did share every happiness and saddness with my grandma at that time. when i grew up,i left home to join the middle school which was very far from my home. sometimes, i still miss the moment staying with my grandma.by the way, she is very old now. really can't imagine, i felt so warm inside my heart when i was still so young and she was not that old at that time.

9. redhotpogo (1246) | 4 months ago | When I was really young I shared a room with my siblings, till I was about 5. Then from 5 to about 15 I shared a room with my little brother, till I moved out of the house. When I went to school I again shared a room with other people on a dorm. Now after all that time I have a room to myself. It took getting use to. I was use to other people there. When you're alone its kinda odd, even creepy. But now I'm use to it. Its nice to have privacy.

aseretdd (6864) | 4 months ago | Letting your parent live with you is a very noble act... some would just leave their parents in nursing homes or hire a nurse to take care of the in a different house... so you are a great son... keep it up...
