Work from home... |
|
I currently work from home and call the office anytime i have concerns about our prospect and current clients. It is pretty easy this way because I don't really have to do so much to look good and be presentable to my workmates to compensate the corporate image that we have to keep. It is also good in the sense that I am in control of my time.
What good do you get from having to go to the office everyday? It seems like it's been a long time since I actually went to "work" everyday. I go to the office like once or twice in a month.

2. shajerrl (270) | 3 months ago | just like a member of SOHO,,,pretty good! but maybe it is not fit me yet, i can't control myself all the time, if i worked at home, maybe i can't stick to work all the working time, if i delay my work because of this, maybe i can lose my job. but anyway, i don't need to worry about that, as i don't have that conditions to work at my home and my boss will not agree with that...lol...

| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | You need a lot of self discipline when you work on your own without supervision. I'm not perfect. Many times I don't make use of my time all too wisely. But at a certain level, you know you have to do more and make sure you complete the tasks you have to finish and reach the goals of the company as well as yourself.

3. med889 (2804) | 3 months ago | It is so good to work from home as you can even work in your pyjama sometimes and no need to rush up in the morning to go to either catch a bus or take the car, no one is around and you are free also to have your lunch time. I also wish to have such a job but now I have to work in an office.

| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | I honestly just wake up, make a cup of hot choco and turn to my pc. That's simply what I do and get stuck here all day (laughing).
Pretty boring sometimes.

| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | I just realized, if you really want to work from home, there are many ways to earn online. Especially if you are good at writing. I'm actually exploring that right now. So it adds up to the excitement and responsibilities I have aside from my job.

6. carolbee (6747) | 3 months ago | This is great to have a job where you can stay home and still be able to work. Don't have to worry about getting dressed and rushing to the office. I have worked at several office positions in my lifetime but could never land a job that I could do from home. Not so certain I could manage my time as well at home as I did when I was actually in the office. Guess I would need more self discipline.

| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | Requires a lot of self discipline and for over a year of working from home, I would say I still need to be more disciplined in completing my tasks.
But there are times the rush gives you the excitement.

| 7. joye68 (68) | 3 months ago | It is a bit more laid back. I work from home also. It's nice, but you need to go back to getting dressed (at least halfway from waist up) in the event that you have to eMeet. I kind of learned the hard way. ("Emergency" meeting).
I find that when I'm dressed for "work" anyway, I'm a little better focused. It puts me in a professional state of mind (but with better access to the coffee pot). Mind you, I don't wear NEARLY the makeup that I used to and I don't dress "up", but I don't wear my jammies either. Unless I know that I'm going to be completely off the grid for meetings or such things, I don't wear my tees.
I definitely miss some of the interaction with coworkers, but not all of it. There are times at home, JUST LIKE at the office, where it's hard to concentrate (there's always a fire to put out somewhere, at either location).
Does work provide you with the necessary tools for netmeetings?

|
| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | I have access to things I need to be able to function well as a worker. I just feel that sometimes I miss the interactions with coworkers in an actual office:)
In my case, the meetings I have are with clients. So whenever I need to meet with them regarding their concerns, that's the time i get dressed and put my make up, etc.
Generally, I do feel lucky about my job.

| 8. jacksong (80) | 3 months ago | Hi, barbiejune, It's so lucky for you, owned a so wonderful work. I am a little bit envious to your job:) I think work from home means much more free than in office, either physically or mentally. But I still have some concerns, is your job easy? or bear very big pressure? And if you work like this way for a long term, I mean just stay home alone everyday, do you feel the communication with other people reduces, do you think this affect your life or bad impact to your life?
| |
| |
|
|
| barbiejune (84) | 3 months ago | I think because I love what I am doing, I don't really feel the pressure most of the time. It only happens when I have to meet certain deadlines and find a way to resolve problems before the clients escalate them to the CEO.
It is a relatively small but growing company. I only choose to work at home because my place is very far from the office. If it was closer, I think I would choose to go to work and be in work clothes everyday (giggling).
